I'm posting this for my my dad and I didn't know what to search.

Attached is a picture of a bracket which I'm told goes on the back of the stock carb mounted to the intake. What he is asking is: is this how the backet mounts or is he holding it upside down? How does the linkage cable mount on the bracket? If you could post a picture of the bracket installed it would be awesome. Thank you

https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/accelerator-linkage-brain-fart-78-fj40.382560/ you have #55 in this thread which connects to the rod in the picture. The bracket you have is the thing the guy is missing in that thread.

some more pictures. https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/mechanical-throttle-linkage.839200/

the bracket you are holding should be horizontal. the part where your finger is touching goes closest to the firewall (where the torque rod slides in) and the the tiny little hole on the other arm is where the return spring mounts. The other two holes that are on parallel arms slide over the studs that mount the carb to the intake. Easy right?

EDIT: you mention a cable? no cable just a series of pivots/rods/brackets that use that mount. What year are you working on?

that bracket was not used with the cable style throttle linkage ,pics of the carb and or firewall + year of the fj40 would help

That bracket will work on am 80 year model - but like shelfboy said - no cable

Your linkage should match this diagram from SOR. It's all rods, no cable. The bracket you're showing is a version of #55. I have never figured out the little end that looks like a cable would connect to it. I have two, one of each type, but that little end is not used in a '76-'78.

#55

I assumed the place for the cable to connect was on models that had the hand throttle. My 1980 (Dec 79 build) did not have the place for the cable connect. - In reference to Fast Eddy's comment above, NOT talking about the bracket in the OP.

I want pics! Especially if the rest of the trick looks as clean as that bracket.

I'll hopefully have it this weekend and can get some pictures of the engine compartment. We just had the engine rebuilt and a most of the brackets and mounts were powder coated for free by a friend.
