Trail: Slick Rock - Deer Valley

Description: The plan is to run Slick Rock in the morning then do the lower section of Deer Valley. Slick Rock is a new trail for the club but has a stocker friendly reputation. Deer Valley is a trail suited for mildly modified rigs, if you can make it past the gate keeper you should be fine for the rest of the trail. The top section of Deer Valley is closed so this part of the run is in and out. For those who want to there is a nice camping spot at the turn around as well as many others along the way.

Date: Saturday, 7/20/13

Leave Time: 10:00am

Meeting Location: Hermit Valley Campground off Hwy 4

Trail Difficulty:Mostly 1-2 some sections of Deer Valley 3
Optional camping on Friday and Saturday night for those who want.

For those of us who want to camp friday night it will be at the hermit valley campground off hwy 4 arrive as you can. I will probably be there about 5:00 or 6:00pm. Then some shared a desire to camp at the 1st river crossing campground saturday night. Rumor has it that the fishing is good there.

If you just want to run the trails it will probably take most of the day.

Ill probably head up sat am and it sounds as if there's some that'll be up Friday.
Are we planning on a base camp, wheeling slick rock and deer valley out and back and return to base camp or meet up, wheel and then set up camp later?

Darcie and I are planning on a Saturday departure from Reno morning as well.

We are up for what ever works as far as camping.

I think Shawn wanted to camp at the water crossing Saturday night. Maybe drown a few flies?

I think I'll be there Friday at Hermit Valley camp ground. Saturday is still unclear.

I'm easy on Saturday night camp venue if I can make it.

I am camping Friday night at hermit valley campground. I think John Mcbride is as well and now Rusty!

Probably leaving Carson at around three in the PM. We will wait for you guys and then head to slick rock run and then back to deer valley then run it to the first crossing then those who are camping can camp and the others can return to Hwy 4 and back to civilization.

Remember the bug spray esp. those who are camping at the 1st river crossing.

Darcie and I decided it was a good time to do a "test" fit of our camp gear for the upcoming trip. Kind of fun figuring out where everything can and will fit. A little like solving a puzzle. Good thing it all did.

For those that are leaving Reno on Saturday morning, what time were you thinking of leaving? I forget how long it takes to get there, does two hours sound about right?
