Imagine the frustration of enjoying a drive with the windshield down and suddenly the sunvisors start opening…. the first world problems we have to deal with. I fabricated a pair of straps to hold them in place. I repurposed some MOLLE webbing &...
Its been a busy week. I installed a set of rotapax fuel tanks, a low profile pelican storage case and a set of tractions boards. Waiting for another case to come in that will attach on the pass side. I know I installed something else on my 76...
Today I had a chance to drive the 40 for a few hours mostly off road and enjoy the fruits of my labor. Body work , new wiring, windshield, exhaust system and a million little things to get it to this point, Parts will have to come back off for...
Finally..... officially road-legal today..
after ??+ years in somebody's backyard.. 10 years in PO barn and 5 years in my garage...
Last time she has been on the road like this... :-)
Decided to redo my exhaust, had a leaking muffler and really didn’t like how the old set up was. Broke out the flux core welder and got to town. A muffler shop could’ve done much better but at least it’s done and it’s not like I wanted it sitting...
Put gas in it yesterday, and drove it to work again today.
Edit: Almost forgot: I also rolled up the driver-side window for the first time--in 8 years.
Since yesterday was my birthday, and Monday is my wife's, and since I, uh, forgot to get the cheesecake on my Walmart grocery hunt yesterday (and, uh, tomatoes), I took a Cruise this morning to rebalance Chi and Karma (it was so fun):
I slipped my straps around the roll bar out of the way of passenger heads you can seen here:
Given your bar is new and shiny, you might get some chaffing from the straps so it may not be a great solution.
Finished restoring my roll bar for my 1975 Fj40, got it painted satin black, cleaned up the rubber pads and all new hardware.
With the roll bar installed, I also got a couple of black bikini tops for my year round summer weather here in...
I just had a similar issue with my Gen 1 SBC 350 and did all the fuel trouble shooting and replacing parts myself and still did not solve the problem. I ended up taking it to a mechanic that figured out that when my HEi distributor got hot it...
I see cruisers with mulch, 40's with green grass beside them, tops being removed, allow me to interject a little skiff of good 40 driving weather from the mountains.
Finally replaced the old KM2s with the updated KM3s, absolutely amazed how much better it rides with fresh tires! Also put in a little elbow grease with some Meguiars #7 to get the paint shining a bit better and sealed it with Liquid Glass. Mr. T...
Here’s my latest adventure. The original lift shocks were trashed and I was too cheap to buy the CityRacer option so I got lucky ordering stuff from Amazon. I had to drill out the pin holes to make room for the shock studs and I flipped the top...
And another project is almost complete. I wasn’t crazy about the mirrors mounted in the windshield frame and I didn’t like the pre-75 model mirrors so I decided to build brackets to mount Land Rover defender mirrors. Many ways to do it, I went...
Constructed an idea I had thought up awhile back for a spare tire upper brake light on my 1975 Fj40. For more info on it and the thinking behind it see my build thread here...
Cleaned and painted seat frames and brackets put on my Cruiser Corps seat covers but before I finished it all up I brushed my Buddy Thunder put some of his fur in a vacuum bag zip tied it into the passenger side back rest so we can go for rides...
Another big step in this build was getting the seats installed, starting to look more and more like a finished 40.
Because this 40 is going to be a full time topless truck, with the exception of a bikini top, seat belts needed to be figured...
