Well what were you thinking it would be....

Local Line'x dealer and I finally came to an agreement so off she went this AM. Should have her back tomorrow afternoon.

We are coating the sides from the windows down, the entire upper and lower tailgate and the hood. I'm also making a custom grille as well.

I'll put up some after photos Fri AM.

this is going to be interesting to see when it's all done. going for standard black lineX or tinted? what's your reasoning for bedlining what looks to be a perfectly intact paint job without even pinstriping? you having them fill-over the recesses/holes from the side-trim or you gonna put it back on?

is LineX one of the bedliners that come with the UV blocker in it? i've seen a couple professional bedliner jobs that have degraded a year later after the sun gets to them. what was once black turned to an oxidized-looking gray.

is the custom grille a billet style grille?

Well, lo and behold, they did it in a day! The Rhino dealer wanted it for a month???

To answer a couple of the questions, the molding is gone, it was degrades and looked like crap. The truck had a couple good dents in one where a previous owner thought he didn't need sliders and another where he backed the cruiser 1/3 of the way down the mirror of his other truck. Besides that the paint job was trashed with some deep pinstripes that I tried repeatedly to buff out.

I had the bodywork and a couple other dings in the hood and doors fixed by a friend and pulled the molding since it looked horrible as well.

As far as UV resistance goes, I did my Tundra bumpers and bed with Line-X's products 4 years ago and they still look like they are new. The truck has been parked outside most of its life in AZ. I'm completely comfortable with the longevity and durability of their product.

The grille is going to be mesh with a Toyota Logo in the center sort of like an old 40 series.
I had the outside line-x'd to get rid of the chrome.

So enough already, here's the pics!!!

Awesome, well done sir!

Why not do the pillars upfront?

The truck looks sweet! I do am wondering why you stopped at the sides. I think it would look even better if the entire thing was coated. I understand the roof may be a huge unnecessary cost. In 10-15 years if I still have my truck, I'll look into something like this or maybe that polymer paint that Icon Motors uses. How about washability? A lot of little places that hold dirt. Looks great, love the TRD wheels too.

I like it! You may want to do the fronts of the mirrors? Mine have the clear 3M stuff and that really helps. They take some abuse. Either that or I'm too lazy/stupid/slow to fold 'em in...

The upper sections weren't done due to the added expense. and the fact that the paint up there was in good shape. The entire upper and lower tail gates were done because someone had done a homejob paint job on the upper that looked like crap. I tried to make it as easy and simple on the Line-X dealer and he got it done as quickly and cheaply as he could. I'm ecstatic about the results!

It does look awesome. My question is this, do you have to change your vehicles color on your registration of no? It's like what do you do when you put a matte black wrap on a silver car...

I'm heading down the path you took in a few years, I too have many dents and scrapes from trails and lines I probably should of never taken.

I'm going to be honest...I wasn't expecting this to look good at all, but it turned out friggin sweet. It looks very well applied, and much less "bulky" than I envisioned it would be. I do think that it looks a little odd that the rest of the truck isn't done up to the roof line, but I do understand that cost was an issue.

Would you mind sharing how much a project like this would cost?

Depends on your state's laws...Colorado's are rather cryptic.

42-2-119. Notices - change of address or name. (1) (b) If the primary body color of a motor vehicle is subsequently changed from the primary body color that is identified in the application for registration or in-person renewal registration for the motor vehicle, the owner of the motor vehicle shall notify the department in writing within thirty days after the color of such motor vehicle is changed regarding the new primary body color of the motor vehicle. The primary body color of any motor vehicle shall be identified using the standard color descriptions of the department that are established pursuant to section 42-3-105 (1) (d).

So basically, if you change the "primary" body color of the vehicle in CO, you have 30 days to make changes to the registration. My guess is that what DY has done most definitely qualifies as a "primary body color" change, but he's in AZ, so the laws could be different. Best to talk to your local DMV to see what they say. If a cop runs your plates (and we do it all the time looking for warrant hits), and the description of the car doesn't match the vehicle, that's instant probable cause for a investigative stop. Just sayin. ;)

Yes, I'd like to know what they charged to do that.

I really think you need to change you handle to "desertninja"
That is very stealth!

That turned out way better than I thought it would. I guess most rigs you see bedlined already have some pretty good body damage and the black accents it, but it looks good on the hundy. I agree that you need to do the front pillars and behind the rear windows so it all matches up to the roofline. I would also test out some rattlecan bedliner on your door handles, rear vents and maybe mirrors - probably not easy for them to lineX those, and the rattlecan will at least get you a similar texture.

Interested to see your satoshi grille. Which version of "Toyota" script are you going with?

Turned out great. I'm curious as to how much additional weight it added?

Your ride is looking sweet man!!! I might have to see what a flat green color would look like...
