Roger,

Do you guys normally take two days over and two days back for drive time?

Good trails for a 60 ?

Elbert

What I have been doing is leaving on Tuesday, stopping for the night around DFW then arriving mid day Wednesday. then driving straight through comming back and that is what I will do if I go by my self.

I would like to go see / rdie in some of these other places....

I might want to convoy out there and back with you.

I thought I read where some of the MS club guys are going too.

"lets" bounce this around a little (discus).

I know there is some registration deadlines...etc and I woudl have to get adanced "permission" from work and lock down the days off.

Spring and Fall are the best times to go riding in my view....temps are mild and all of that.

If those going want to convoy, I can take my truck and Andy's on my gooseneck with the camper.

Roger, do you come up and across 40 through Memphis my way or south to 20 or what? If you end up doing the 4 car, I may be interested in a spot if you come my way.

I have gone both ways, usually go 40 if I am not meeting people down south. If we drive straight through I need back up driver , so picking you up would be high on the list

So does it look like you'll end up taking the 4car at this point? (I know it's a bit early to know that) Any "for sure's"? If so, how do you work out costs?

Also, when do you imagine you'd be coming through Memphis? I'm just trying to figure out when I'd need to schedule my leave start date.

Come on Andy. It's a great trip. Love to see you out there.
Agreed! Read the last few posts from me and Roger - reserve you a spot on the big trailer now and lets go wheel some "slickrock"!

Right now there is just the two of us, if thats all I can take the goose neck with the camper and haul 2 rigs. cost-we split the fuel. If we are going to drive straight through then I will come through MemphisTuesday evening. It is about 1000 miles, 15 hours drive time.

If it's just going to be two, and guesstimating 5mpg on your rig, that'll be around $700-$800 each :frown: I'm not sure that I could swing that. However if we get 4 trucks, that cost would be closer to $400 each - round trip; I think I could make that happen.

So c'mon guys - man up and grab a spot. How often will you have a chance to get you and your rig to K2 for this cheap!? Hell, how often do you get the opportunity to get to K2 at ALL???

~I will come through Memphis Tuesday evening~
Roger, any particular reason you're planning Tuesday vice Wednesday? There is no wheeling permitted on Wednesday according to the registration link.

Yes, that way we can set up camp wednesday evening and get a full day of wheeling Thursday.

I wish I could, but besides my known history for being a wimp ...
1) Currently don't have a trail ready truck. [Crate of parts for the BJ just arrived on Tuesday, so she is not going to be road worthy for a while]
2) Just got tagged with two more programs at work, so opportunity for time off is remote
3) Way behind on landscape projects at the house; so with the yard torn up & the :princess: watching crossly, I am feeling the pressure to get-r-done

so I started this at being a wimp and have probably only succeeded at re-affirming my banner.

But if you're picking me up Tuesday evening, aren't we driving straight through? That'll get us there before sun-up Wednesday I think. If we did the same plan but Wednesday, we'd be there Thursday morning and would still have at least a half day or more to wheel instead of all of Wednesday not wheeling.

It's not as big a deal to me as I'm making it seem; I just am trying to take the least time off work as possible. I have to save what I can for GSMTR, SCC, Christmas/New Years, and a few other small trips I wanna do at some point.

So here is the schedule in general...I'm just throwing this out...not saying its the battle plan ..just for discussion purposes.

Ride is the 15th Thursday through the 18th Sunday.

I don't mind driving "long haul" but I don't want to drive all night. Of course I'm saying this respective of my interests and if I can go.

Seems like good idea would be to leave Tusesday the 13th...drive partially out stop and then drive partially the next day...arrive on 14 March... Coming home depart Sunday Morning drive partial and stop or drive straight back.....I'm inclinded to stop and drive teh last leg hom on Monday the 19th.

For the guys who have to work (like me) that would invovle taking 4 to 5 days off, depending on the depearture times..etc and drive times. WHich is not a big deal to me as luckliy I have some accrued vacation time. I certainly understand that it might impact others or be an issue for another's personal schedule.

What is the expectation for trail riding.... All day Thur-Fri-Sat and Sunday or what? I'll go back and look at the web link above...just wondering what ohters who have been think is reality or workable? Web site says three days of wheeling So Im trying to figure out where they have their agenda... Ok...so here http://katemcyrocks.com/schedule.html riding happens Thur-Sat.

Seems like you would want some down time on Wed to setup camp, screw around, maybe acquire some food or whatever else, take it easy.. get situated and be able to get a feel for the place before dark?

Roger....are you wanting to drive straight through on the evening of the 13th?
