1980 Ford E350 SuperVan (extended) 460 V8 Same van used to build ambulances black/red customized with 6 bucket seats and a bench that folded flat My first car was the family trip vehicle. 2 huge gas tanks and around 8 - 9 mpg Learned to back up with mirrors. Sweet Alpine stereo

2007 Chrysler Town & Country van blue/tan Hand-me-down company car Hoping to get a new Dodge Caravan in March or April.

I just realized the only new cars I have driven were company cars. The Vette was the closest thing to new I have owned. My favorites are the '86 Vette, '76 280C, and both Cruisers. Vehicles I'd like to own in the future: FJ62 with a 6.0 conversion set-up as a expedition/tow rig, another 100, and A's 200 when she gets tired of it. I'll try to dig up some pics. Cool thread idea Grog.

nicely done

Enjoying this thread....sadly the below is just a list (only Grogan seems to document anything car related with pictures)

1. 1983 Ford F-100 - Family Business truck, totally ragged when I got it, my new tires and cd player cost more than the truck did. Sky Blue airplane paint, blue vinyl seat, headlight dimmer foot switch, two perfect holes on the passenger bed from a forklift and a quarter inch steel plate in the bed where a 55 gallon oil drum plummeted from 12 feet off of a pallet on said forklift and found the axle.
2. 1988 Volvo wagon - Sunroof, leather, cd player, heated seats. This car made me appreciate volvos and luxury (esp. after the Ford). It was my uncles and used to haul a 15 foot bay boat from Laurel to Dauphne so the transmission had issues. (Later my brother would manage to do a 360 in it while doing 50 on the ramp from Lakeland to I55 and remove the back axle...otherwise im convinced it would still be on the road.
3. 1995 Dark Green 4runner Limited (every option but 4wd). Came out from high school my Junior year and couldn't find the volvo. Finally noticed my Dad leaned up against, what I thought was my buddys 4Runner. I walked up and he tossed me the keys. I drove it for 6 months then convinced my rents I needed 4wd...problem was I LOVED that truck....so.....
4. 1995 Dark Green 4runner Limited...WITH 4wd. I some how managed to sell the 2wd and buy the 4wd with 8,000 more miles for the same price. Insanity ensues. Buck shot tires, rancho 5000s, thornbirds, 2 12 inch subs and a massive headache. Drove it through college and then move to
5. 2003 Volvo XC70- Dad and I went in together and bought a 4 door and my wagon from Sweden. 3 months later I joined the Army and realized it was not what I needed. Sold it to dad and bought
6. 2003 Toyota Tacoma - Silver, 4wd, double cab. Procedded to put BFG Mud terrain, tool box, Warn 9,000 and tons of miles on it. Solid truck used and abused in oil fields, lawn maintenance jobs and getting around on active duty and then when I went back to Southern.
7. 2003 Volvo XC70 - bought it BACK from Dad when Natalie got pregnant and the Tacoma had 180,000 miles and transmission problems. Still got $13k for it.
8. 1976 TOYOTA LAND CRUISER - ya'll know the story here. Love it and definitely have the sickness
9. Sold the Volvo wagon after massive problems and bought a 99 4runner.

Loving life.

Best Memories in a vehicle - 1995 4wd 4runner. no brainer SR year of high school and through college - also worse gas mileage ever (that 3.0L sucks on power)
Best vehicle - 2003 volvo wagon - before my mom drove it and ragged it out
Dream vehicle - 1976 LC....

whose up?

ill have to bring them to work to scan them in. I hvae the 83 Ford and 4runner in pics I know.

GREAT thread

if yall are like me...when we all get done with your rides....we can go into what all we have talked the Mrs. into driving. Natalie had 2 cars before me and has had 6 since then!! ALL toyotas (PS we have only known each other 5 years so that's a car a year!)

I have pics of some of these but they are in storage.

1 1965 Mustang Coupe with inline six and AC. It was that cream yellow color.
2. gold Civic I forget the year probably a 1985 or so.
3 1974 Volkswagon Karman Ghia convertible, red with a black top.
4. 1988 Maxima. Best driving 4 door car I ever owned.
5. Got married and bought a beater accord when I lived in Indiana
6. Got Divorced and got a 2001 Porsche Boxter. Yee Haa. Silver with black top.
7. Got married again and got Nissan Frontier. (this line shows I am an idiot on many fronts)
8. That car wont be mentioned. It would ruin my reputation.
9. Got my wife's hand me down 100. Been in the family for 8 years and 110k miles.

^^ 8. let's go fess up.....Heep product ....right?

This was my ultimate used car score ever. I found this on the lot in DC...it was just traded in and the used car manager had no idea what it was.

It was a 1990 model, fully loaded with only 12,000 miles on it. Near perfect.

I think it was 1994 when I got it.

Anyway, he had it listed for $8000. I bought it and was in the sales office and had a breathless VW weirdo offer me $12,000 for it right in front of the salesperson.

We all made it though the encounter and I took it to TX and then to Louisiana.

It was so unbelievably cool and actually drive and handled nicely.

Problems....the a/c was in the back of the van. It blew VERY cold and would almost freeze you in July. Problem was, if froze the BACK of your head while you were getting roasted through the windshield by the sun with no air blowing on you.

Second, you can't camp much in the south without an a/c. It was just too hot to enjoy much.

I ended up selling it for $16,000 with 25,000 miles on it.

I wish I still had it.
Was it an ultra-cool synchro?

1. 67 Chevy Impala 327, 2 speed powerglide. Talked my Dad into letting me have it if I could fix the damage from my oldest brother backing it into a tree and caving the trunk in nearly to the back glass. Several colors and mis-matched mag wheels - no money for that sort of thing. I was 15 at the time.

2. 74 Buick Opel Coupe - great on gas and made money when I sold it.

3. 80 Mercury Capri RS - First new car! Looked great but used a quart of oil every 800 miles from the start. Got pissed at Ford and traded it in on:

4. 81 Chevy S10. OK little truck and just what we needed starting out. Still had it when I bought my first FJ40.

5. 74 Plymouth Duster hot rod. Doodoo brown with a snakeskin vinyl half top. Great in a straight line. Not so much anywhere else. Bought it as a non running vehicle with motor trouble. Figured out the guy filled it with diesel fuel (not Nolen). Easy fix.

6. 72 FJ40. Bone stock except for some heavy ass pipe bumpers and Gateway Gumbo Mudders. Wish I still had it...

Well my fleet is in no comparison to Davids but here we go:

92 Isuzu Amigo 2wd. Purchased from my dads dealership. It was abandoned. Paid $600 bought a top, locked the rear axle, auto zone shackles on rear, cranked torsion bars, flipped upper balljoint, installed big ass system and put on 33" bfg at's. Used it as a daily driver/beach/surf vehicle. Did great on sand. Hydolocked motor.

93 tempo also abandoned on lot $100. Teal green manual windows, bungee cord around shifter and console to keep it in gear. Could not kill it. Took it down power line trails, drove through stacks of mattresses and countless bags of leaves. Sold it to a friend for $300. Rebuilt the motor in the Amigo.

1986 Bronco with a bored and stroked 460 from a Lincoln Continental. Dana 60 front, 14 bolt rear, cut boggers on the back, tsl's on the front. Overheated on the interstate. Got a ride to pick up the trailer and when I got back the truck was gone:mad:. I still have the keys and title.

1984 Bronco I got on trade for rebuilding the rear end in a friends explorer. Had bald 35" Thornturds which turned out to be the best sand tires I ever had. Sold for $1500.

Sold the Amigo for $1800 to an Elizabeth City cop and got a:

00 Land Rover Disco. Lifted, snorkled. Bought cheap and sold a few months later. It was a POS.

94 Land Cruiser traded in at the dealership I was working at. I didnt know what it was but the solid front axle caught my eye. Bought for $3600. Had 115k miles. Found the diff lock switch a month later and fell in love with it even more. Kept for 2 years. Sold with 210k for $6800 and used the money to buy my wifes ring.

Have bought and sold so many vehicle since then that I wont even list them. Now have a 97 with 40's and a 76.
