Your Thoughts on the LC 250?

I don't know what this means. Yes, on pavement? Meaning I should take it offroad on one of the many dozens of weeklong off pavement trips I took my 100/200/LX? Just to be even more disappointed? Pass.
I meant to clarify that all the noises you have experienced were indeed on pavement, not bumpy roads. It sounds like you got a lemon since these issues seem to be an exception rather than the rule with MUD owners.

Perhaps you should take it offroad to see how the new version compares to your older models in this arena.

My thoughts, as someone who has owned two 100s, two 200s, rebuilt a 40 from the frame up, and has a 2025 premium 250 series with 4000 miles on it.

The 250 is subpar, in nearly every way. Quality is not there. At all.

Wind noise, terrible (like 20k car terrible).

Windshield literally rattles at speeds over 70mph (imagine someone riding on the hood and tapping the windshield with a quarter every second, nonstop). Dealer says no fix.

Passenger A pillar rattles. Dealer says no fix.

Driver and passenger AC vent rattle (loud). Dealer says no fix.

Brakes are terrible. Took two trips to get the TSB properly applied to stop the ridiculous squeal. Slowing from interstate or high speeds brakes are mushy. Braking in town, lots of times the car lurches while slowing down.

Rated for 22/25 mpg. It gets 17. Sometimes.

I could go on, but I won't. Just very disappointed so far.
Well, as someone who has owned the previous 3 generations of LC, still owns a 100 and just bought a 2026 1958 my views are completely opposite of yours. I think the new one's awesome. Quiet, comfortable ride (no roof rack) no rattles, excellent build quality, and the brakes are great. Not sure what you're referring to regarding the windshield. I also think it's more fun to drive than all the previous generations with it's torque dense hybrid drivetrain. Out of the box, it'll go places none of the others will as well, with the standard rear locker. Really impressed with this truck .

It does indeed. This vehicle is not worthy of the badge.

Congrats.

No. Didn't test drive 3 of my 4 prior land cruisers. I trusted the brand/badge. My mistake, won't happen again.

thats the problem....they just threw the LC badge on it for marketing and to 'fool' the easily fooled masses. for the quick green (not MPG and climate change green.....money green)

same with BMW and MERC slapping 'M' / 'AMG' badges on everthing.....it waters it down and eventually means nothing, the legacy is lost, and everything settles to a new, lowest common denominator. and we all keep dumbing ourselves down to equal the dumbest of us all.

you bought a 4runner

Here, let me fix that for you kid. Go drive a 700OT and come back.
Nah, If I wanted a station wagon Land Cruiser I would get the 200 series with a proper tailgate.

The 4-cylinder has a single turbo, not two turbos. The V6 is the only one with two turbos (one per bank). There are inline 4 cylinder engines with twin turbos, but the 250 isn’t one of them.

....maybe I miss-understand the LC "thing", but wasn't the consternation over the use of a 8.2" rear diff instead of a 9.5" rear diff like the 200 and 300 series utilize?

It’s a 4Runner. Prove me wrong.
I hope not to prove you wrong, I've known this for a long time and folks would argue with me when I stated this fact back when I had a 4th gen and a 5th gen 4R. The 4Runner is the american version of the Land Cruiser Prado. But now the 4Runner is the budget version of The LC250. So, The 4runner IS a Land Cruiser. Nothing to prove you wrong about besides your wording. It's is misleading, it makes folks think the Land Cruiser Prado copied the 4runner. When it was the 4runner that copied the Land Cruiser Prado.

Actually the GX quite literally was and is a Land Cruiser Prado, just with a nicer interior and much better drivetrain. The 4Runner has been and has remained it's own "thing", although many Prado mechanical parts will interchange on a 4Runner. The vast majority of Prado mechanical, body, and interior parts will bolt right into a GX.

it shared almost all the same parts, enough for me to consider it a Prado' and given how much those 4runners can be put through I don't feel wrong. The Gx probably shared more? point being 4R/GX are basicaly Land Cruiser Prado not the other way around like 04UZJ100 implied.

You are absolutely right. Thanks for calling it out and here it goes again for the kid.

That's good to know. Good.

The body and interior of all 4Runner generations are totally different than the Prado. On the other hand 120 and 150 series of both the Prado and the GX share almost identical body panels and interior parts with the exception of the front clip. I order Prado parts for my GX quite often, and have put a JDM Prado rear 8.2 trussed axle in it as well.

One could easily argue that the 4Runner and Prado have shared the same market, but they are most certainly not the same vehicle. After all, only North America gets the 4Runner - the rest of the world has to buy the Prado for a mid-market, mid-sized SUV.

This kid doesn't know what motor is in his Prado hybrid? 😂
