Anyone know of any Toyota junkyards that have any 80 series rigs? The one's around here don't have any. Specifically im looking for a late model '93 / early '94 ECU part# 89661-60221. I recently ran the CEL codes on my rig and yep, I've been hit with the '93 computer crap out virus. :( It's only a matter of time now.

I figured i'd check local junkyards first before i buy one from Dan for a Grand. :crybaby:

thanks guys,

Ok, i paid a service that searches junkyards from all over the country. Now im getting a boatload of emails regarding the computer. Has anyone ever used one of these services?

Im kind of hesitant to shell out $687.00 to a company that says they have my computer within minutes of me submitting the search!

Those auto responses are scary. I have seen a few, within the last 4 months, at the junk yard off the 91 freeway, I think you exit at Kraemer or Glassell. It on the south side of the freeway. I do not know the model years, but they were newer than mind.

Yeah, that's right where i work. Been over there and made a few phone calls to them. There are a few off of Van Buren too with no luck.

Im leaning towards ordering a brand new one from Dan. I just don't like the price tag. But at least i know what im getting!

There is a Toyota specialty junk yard that advertises on Craigslist. They are located near San Diego. Just type land cruiser on the San Diego Craigs list and they will pop up.

Here is the # I have for one in San Diego but I have never called or used them.
Toyota Parts Yard: (619) 216-6012

Is this Advanced Auto Parts in Chula Vista off Energy Way or whatever the street is? I just visited there on May 4 and they had a White 92 FJ80 with blue cloth interior. I wanted the driver's side power window motor but he would only sell me the whole door. I also wanted the buckles for the middle seat (I have a 92 with later model seats so they don't fit) but he would only sell me the whole seat assembly! Oh well, I'll order the buckles from Toyota for 33ish a piece and I'll hold off on the motor.

Another number is 619 482 1414 but they didn't have any FJ80s as of last week. I called a few places including MiniTruck Dismantlers and they kept referencing me to other places.

NICE, talk about a discount!

Keep us updated if this solves the problems or not!

Are the ECU's known to fail on 80's? Something i havent read, but i have been lacking in my reading! :D

Keeping a spare for long trips isnt a bad idea!

Let us know how it works!

Thanks

The 93's are not the Bueno. They fixed it in early 94'. IIRC SOME 94's are equiped with the "old" ECU. Seach in 80's tech for the good and old part # and then pop your glove box (while crossing your fingers) and see which one you have (Since you have a 94'). I don't think that there have been any issues with the newer.
