I have decided to post a new thread for my trip on Expo and will talk here about what modifications I most used on a 4,500 mile , 3 week family camping trip (2 adults and 2 kids) pulling a pop up from Ga to Co. I would like to first thank the mud community for providing information giving me the ability and confidence to trouble shoot and figure out any problem that might arise.
Here is a listing of the items I was most thankful to have and why......
#1 Electric frig. Edge star 60q. scratch and dent deal..
- I just dont think I could have done this trip with out one, having cold drinks every where we went with enough room for food for 4 people and not having to worry about ice or temperature / spoiling food. I did not have to worry about buying ice or wet food the entire trip. This cooler ran for over three weeks enabled me to pack all my food two days before I headed out and could fit just about anything my wife bought along the way including some nice Co. IPAs...
#2 ARB roller floor
- I have had this for a few years and I keep on using it to the fullest. I have tools in the lower drawer and the frig secured to the top. I can keep several items in the drawer and easy to get too. This might need to be moved to # 1 most used mod ever.
#3 Roof rack
- I upgraded my roof rack not too long ago and I was so thankful to have that rack. I carried a roof top box and a kayak on top tied down. I was hanging off the rack and used it to climb up and down and up and down so many times... Having the rack run upside down is the ticket and think it performed so well. Plus the kids really like climbing on it also.
#4 Dual battery set up (TMAX) + die hard platinum
- see #1 , I have run this set up now for a few years and I cant count the number of times I have used it. It also gives a good feeling that if your main battery fails then no problems. I left my frig running for days on this set up and have have no problems.
#5 Roof top box (Thule)
- This box fits perfect on one side of the rack and still allows for running a kayak. I had that box packed with loose items, back packs and kayak gear , paddles that would of been getting in my way. This is an older box that I picked up off crigslist for $90 bucks. It was almost like this box is made for the rack.
#6 Trash a roo
- I picked this up right before the trip to keep my trash out of the truck and make it easy at camp to keep a place where trash can be collected. Of course I learned when in bear country make sure all trash makes it into the trash bag and you take the trash bag to the bear box before going to bed.

This thing is very well made and I dont think there really is anything out there better.
