In in process of rebuilding my 2f and low and behold the my manifolds are off by .025. Now of the machine shops in my area can handle getting it true. I'm Planninh on getting it straight with a file. Question is if you have one section that has to come down .025 it would seem that would also have to take the same amount off the other side where the nut clamps down on the ears of the manifold otherwise one would be thicker and would have as much clamping force on it. Reading through as many posts as I can find i don't see anybody mention this at all. Anyone have any experience with this?

Actually, it's mentioned in a number of threads.
If the aluminum manifold is thicker than the cast iron when you tighten it down, it can break the ears off the aluminum. You can either have the two sections 'Spot-faced' which is a machining process to level the two sides, or you can do it as some people do and just use washers cut in half on the low side to kind of bring The two pieces as level as you can get them.

I've seen a few instances where people have epoxied, or JB welded the half washers in place.

I think most machine shops fixture the manifold pairs to get them stable, then buzz them on a giant bet sander type of thing. Could you fixture yours, buy a roll of belt sanding material in XL size, and hand sand it on a very flat surface like a chunk of granite counter top?

What you're referring to with the nut-washer surface is called "spot facing" it's on a lot of threads here. I don't really know how it's done, but I think with a reasonable supply of tools somebody could figure it out in an afternoon.

Send them to a shop.
