Thanks!

Thanks for all the encouragement! This is my first frame off, so there are just some things I have never done before, and I am definitely a 2 banana mechanic.

I did get lucky last night while browsing fj40 parts. I found this for a SWEET price...sorry Diesel42:D I have overspent in so many areas, that saving some money on a turbo was a welcome relief...of course the name of the rig is Murphy's Law, so with my luck It wont fit or wont work and I'll have to buy your kit anyway. :bang:

Turbo looks great! You will need a few longer exhaust studs to mount it to your 3b.

The correct size is m8 125 thread 70mm, for the 2 bottom center holes.

did you remove the rear member yourself? If so, how did you remove the factory rear bolts and which bolts are those that you chose for replacement? I have not gotten under there to look at it, but I do need to switch out rer members and I like the powdercoating idea.

It looks like you can modify that exhaust manifold so you don't need to replace your studs.

I vote longer studs as being the "better-engineered solution".

agreed.

Got more done today..All suspension is in place including shocks etc. Waiting on powder coater to finish the steering components and rims. Leaving for Canada for a week, so no updates coming until next weekend, but they will be dramatic!

Yah, if I was making a show truck, I would do some of that...not going to...going to clean up the engine real well..paint a few things, but otherwise just make everything real sanitary. At some point, I will have the engine built professionally...when I do, I will really trick it up.

Where did you get the Belton? I have had it for almost 10 years now on my BJ60, it has held up really well, it sits higher than my friends 60 with newer OME :)
Not sure if I can get it in Canada anymore, EBI doesn't carry it anymore. I would get it again.

Beltton

The Belton kit came with the project, and I assume came from 4Wheel in Canada from Dan.

Went on really well and looks great.

Here are the latest pictures. I got a couple of milestones done.

Primary one was to get the tranny mount moved forward 3" to accommodate the BJ60 H55F and get my engine moved forward a bit.

Second one was to get the center arm put back together. Just curious if anyone knows how much tortional resistance there should be in it. I followed the FSM, but it seems tight to me??

Third was to complete the suspension with the addition of the shocks.

I am struggling with the brake set up at this point, but I will figure it out. I got the brake kit from TSM, and should have bought their brake hoses.

some more pictures

Here are some more pictures of the tranny mount..Again, not as easy as several people made it sound. I had to drill the holes, insert the bolts from the inside out..hold them in place and then slide the bracket over the bolts. Not that easy to do by yourself. I was only able to use ONE of the original forward holes with the nut on it.

I double lock nutted each bolt and used red Loc-Tite

Dan,

I just realized that if yours is worn, I have a brand new OEM center arm that I will not use (it's LHD). It is not the pivot, but the actual arm. I bought it because sometimes people's bolt holding the arm on the pivot loosens and the splines can get mashed. I thought that happened to my rig, but it ended up being just a worn pivot.

Either way, looking good! Let me know if you need the arm.

Thanks mate...my arm is fine and at the powder coaters...I think the pivot is fine...it moves freely and there was no apparent wear...cleaned the crud out if it...lubed it up good and put it back together...only concern was the seal, and it went in fine..just a dust seal, so should be good.

Thanks!

Defending my manifold mod comment, it looks like the two center stud hole "cylinders" can be chopped in half with a zipcut

Turbo, one thing I can tell you about this forum is that everyone has their own opinion on just about everything..no "wrong" or right way to do things it seems. I've done mods you would think I was crazy for and vice versa..no need to defend. Once I get the manifold in my hot little hands, I'll check it out.

Than ks for the input.
