Thanks man!!! That was the easy part..the million dollar question will be can I get the edic to work starting my wiring from scratch? But that is a long way off.
you were right about the LHD vs RHD frame..not the same..doesn't mean I can't use it, just means I need to weld a bracket..not a big deal. They also don't have the rear spring gussets apparently, so I will have to source those someplace as well. Still a way better frame than mine..Where is the frame number located again?? I want to cut it out and weld it on the new frame as you suggested.

Right hand side, just behind the bumper. It's on the extension that is normally between the bib/fenders and the bumper.

WooHooo! the frame is on it's way!!! The good news is that the motor mount brackets on the old frame are in GREAT shape...very little cutting and welding needed..I will sleep better tonight..AND the price was right on the frame.

Thanks Rudi...a picture is just what i needed...not where i imagined based on previous descriptions..still not sure i will bother or not, but i do have to do some other minor cutting and welding, so we'll see.

Murphy's law.
Well..tore things down a bit further..I did have one stroke of luck. I found an engine puller on Craigslist for $100.00...seemed like a crazy good price for what I got.
Here is another close up of the frame that tells me I made the right call on the new one.
Pulled the tranny and the engine... a few more things to get off the frame, now it's wait till the frame gets here..see which engine mounts are on it, (SOR couldn't say for sure??)..get that blasted and powdercoated, and start putting the stuff back together.
The engine stand I bought for cheap is just that...going shopping for a new engine stand tomorrow to get a heavy duty one.

Oil pan is rusty, but the main seal is bone dry, and no signs of leaks anywhere.

maybe I don't know the nomenclature, but what is a welch plug?? a freeze plug? I plan on detailing the engine, so the freeze plugs, gaskets and seals will be changed out. If it's something else, PLEASE let me know!

People in Wales (which is in the United Kingdom ... for the benefit of those poor MUD members who aren't within the mighty "Commonwealth of Nations") traditionally cook their vittles on coal-fired stoves. And the high temperatures produced by their quality-coal tends to burn holes in the bottoms of their saucepans and teapots. So they developed a repair method (for their cookware) whereby they hammer stuff into the holes to seal them up. Now, .... as an interesting extra titbit of information (from the vast collection that I have) ... they used a wide variety of plug-materials but found old tooth fillings tended to work best (bearing in mind that the Welsh coal fields are not exactly part of affluent-society).
So Welsh plugs actually have nothing to do with "ice formation".
However "freeze plugs" (AKA "frost plugs"), while they DO perform a similar job (of blocking a hole), are in fact there to release pressure and thereby protect the enclosure (... which in the case of an automobile is of course the "coolant-passageways of the engine-block-casting") in the event that the liquid within the enclosure freezes and thereby expands.

Tom and Theo..thanks for the education! Who knew?? Theo, I don't actually think that I did mention a redo on the engine, but whilst I have it apart, (how did you like the use of whilst Tom?, I have spent some time in your neck of the woods mate!), I thought I would go ahead and detail it out..I am a bit nervous about doing it, but I have the gaskets etc, and figure I can't really mess it up too bad.
I need a Welch plug in my pocketbook right now..I've spent tons of money, and all I have is a garage and office full of parts.

One of the reasons I bought this project was the wealth of parts the PO had purchased for it. As I move through the various kits and pieces, it's apparent that the PO paid little attention to keeping things organized....if you are on here Mr.PO..you know what I mean! Most of the "kits" purchased are missing parts and are necessitating the buying of more "kits" . One example is of the knuckle rebuild kit..it was all there, but upon inspection yesterday, some how water got into it and rusted one of the seals, and one of the Koyo bearings is rusted beyond use even though the box looks great..so..new kit..3 extra bearings..anyone need 3 trunion bearings and one axle seal??or 9/10ths of a body mount kit..or 3 rear brake cylinders??

Subscribed! Wish I would have found this sooner I have solid 40 frame stripped and ready to go. Also have an aquala tub and cowl I decided not to use so hit me up if your in the market. I'm fairly close I actually delivered an f engine to a guy in st Augustine a couple of weeks ago.

Today..I stripped more stuff off the frame..I removed the inner channel where the steering attaches to the frame since my new frame is RHD and mine is left....went ahead and cut out the VIN stamp so Dallas and Lostmarbles will contiue to talk to me....
... getting ready to drop the axles and begin rebuilding them..one last thing to come in in order to do that..some wheel studs from SOR.
Will post some pics of the old frame cut up, and post to see if anyone wants anything off of it before it goes off to the recyclers.
Murphy's Law did rear it's ugly head...I had sold a small piece off my old FJ to a guy in Tulsa..went to mail it..got to the post office..and it wasn't with the sticky note..where the H#$*&l did it go??
