that was the mistake; as fuel is consumed it leaves air to fill the top of the tank and as the day warms up the air expands at a greater rate than the fuel and being on top as a gas it pushes the fuel out the path of least resistance; in my case the gas filler cap; in others cases it might push it out in other weaker areas.........guess what I am trying to convey is that the toyota mechanical engineers designing these vehicles had the training and the smarts to put together a superb vehicle within certain limitations of costs and when we attempt to modify things a lot of times we just set in place a chain of events that open other problems instead of solving anything
........luckely the gas pouring from my tank did not ignite
.....I will be glad to just get my piggies back to original condition undoing the neglect and ill thought out mods of the last 30 or more years.......BUT.....must add that I have seen in this forum some absolutely awesome examples of beautifull restorations and upgrades that make me drool but being a former? hotrodder I know the amount of energy money and love that has gone into these vehicles to bring them to that point, in my case just happy to get them back to where they once were; just good solid transportation, slow but dependable and with the ability to go off road without wondering.........how the heck can I get back

As I was cleaning and putting a coat of paint on my 55 tank today I also realized that I have the screw on type. Since the brain surgeon that removed this tank cut the line I'm in the same quandry as what to replace or stub this with. Are you guys saying you are creating a sub with an aisin carb inlet?
Thanks
