Howdy, ih8mud.

I'm J, a gunsmith and rock climbing guide out of Jackson Wyoming and LA. I've previously lived out of a JKU purchased on Expedition Portal, and am now traveling in a flatbed pop top self-converted 2019 long bed Cummins. I'm looking to add an 80 series for tighter trails and less stressful trips around town.

I've been at this search for several months and have frustratingly walked from several misrepresented trucks so far. I'm posting here because I'm hoping the right one is likely sitting in a garage owned by someone on this forum.

Spec, in priority order:
1. Factory triple lockers — non-negotiable. CDL pin 7 / dash-switch work fine.
2. Clean frame and body. SW or CA provenance preferred. Surface patina is fine; scaling, perforation, rocker rot, or body-mount cancer is not.
3. 1994+ for the 1FZ-FE.
4. Sub-200k miles preferred.
5. Detailed documented maintenance. The items I care about most: PHH, HHM, knuckle rebuild, birfields, vacuum hoses under the intake, OEM cooling components, valve adjustment intervals, and HG history if applicable. Records are weighted heavily.
6. Honest paint and interior — original or single quality respray in factory color. Cracked dashes are fine. Trying to avoid the coverups I've been running into on BaT and CaB.

Build items I'm happy to pay for:
ARB-class bull bar with integrated winch mount, Warn or comparable winch, 4x4Labs / Slee / Metal Tech rear bumper with swing-out tire carrier, WKOR / Slee / Metal Tech sliders, Dobinsons / Icon lift in a sensible spec, quality A/Ts on factory or quality aftermarket wheels, Rigid / BD / KC aux lighting, ARB or Safari snorkel, pin 7 mod. A stripped honest truck is more interesting to me than one built in a spec I'll re-do.

Build items I'm not interested in (priced in or not):
Roof racks, RTTs, awnings, drawer systems, cheap eBay LED bars, body-color or non-bull-bar front bumpers, turbo or supercharger conversions, 35"+ tires, loud exhausts, audio builds.

Process:
PPI at an LC specialist at my expense before I buy. Transparent results to you either way. My primary shops by region:

- SoCal: SD Trux (San Diego), Cruiser Tech (Laguna Hills), TLC4x4 (Chatsworth)
- NV: BTB Products (Henderson)
- UT: A Rusted Development (Kamas), Cruiser Outfitters (Murray)
- WY: A1 Auto (Jackson)
- MT: Overland Cruisers (Bozeman)
- ID: South to North Land Cruisers (Boise)

If your truck is near any of those I'll arrange the inspection there. If it isn't, I'll cover transport to the nearest one or fly to an LC-knowledgeable shop you suggest. Open to flying anywhere in the western US and driving it home. Eastern US considered only if provenance is unambiguously inland / dry and records are exceptional.

Budget:
For a documented, factory-locked, dry-climate truck with the maintenance items above, I'm a buyer from the teens up to the high 20s depending on miles, records depth, and build.

If you have my truck, or you know someone quietly thinking about selling theirs, please reply or DM. I'm happy to hop on a phone call, send proof of funds, and move quickly when the right truck surfaces.

Thanks for your time,
-J

Just sent you a DM I have a 94 LC80 Triple Locked in California 6465410921

I just posted this on face book . Was just getting ready to post here as well . I'm over your budget and firm on price Em case you're willing to go some more for the right rig. Tons of photos before during and after the restore..

Meet Ruby — a 1995 Triple Locked FZJ80 Land Cruiser with 196k miles and a Gen 1 TRD Supercharger (the “blood diamond” of Land Cruiser blowers).

Ruby just underwent a full body-on style restoration and mechanical refresh at Precision Land Cruisers in Colorado Springs. There is virtually nothing on this truck that hasn’t been restored, rebuilt, replaced, or upgraded within the last two months.

This is not a polished-over auction truck. This is a professionally built, mechanically sorted, boosted 80 Series meant to be driven anywhere in the world.

• Steering box replaced
• Steering box frame reinforcement kit professionally welded in

* New non USA quad headlight kits with JTX Bulbs and an Older style girll to give it that retro look.

CHASSIS RESTORATION

Ruby started life as an East Coast truck that we rescued before rust destroyed it.

The chassis underwent a full restoration:
• Rust encapsulator applied throughout
• Finished in epoxy-based satin black chassis coating
• Front and rear axles restored
• Stainless brake lines installed o rear axle

Important honesty section:

This is why the truck is not priced at $70k+ today.

The body had previous bodywork before we acquired it. Some bubbling is beginning to return at:
• Lower rear doors
• Rear quarter areas behind bumper wings are shot
• A few additional minor spots

The rear quarter sections behind the bumper wings are rusty. We sealed and stabilized everything, but we are being completely transparent about it. with Bumper on it can't be seen

There is NO major structural frame rust compromising the truck.

Repairs performed:
• One front right body mount replaced
• Small area under steering box was thin
• Steering box reinforcement kit installed over repaired area more than enough to repair it

We have extensive before, during, and after photos documenting the entire process. This is a no bull**** sales process.

This truck was intentionally left in “pre-paint” condition because some buyers would rather purchase a mechanically restored and professionally sorted rig before final paint and bodywork. Plus I won't make any more from it than it is now .

THE PRICE

$35,000 FIRM.

And we mean firm enough that you’d think we double-dosed Viagra.

Trades considered:
• Rear steer crawler LS-powered buggy Atlas-equipped crawler Tons/custom axles
• NO Toyota driveline builds

I know buggies well, so please don’t waste my time or yours with junk offers.

May also consider partial trade for:
• Nice diesel truck
• 1-ton preferred
• Reliable enough for daily driving and cross-country travel
• Roughly $25k trade value plus cash

FUTURE PLANS

Ruby already has an appointment scheduled with The Rust Dr. in Grand Junction, Colorado this fall for:
• Full rust repair
• Complete bodywork
• Fresh paint
Once completed, this becomes a $75k–$80k truck.
If a buyer wants it fully finished now, we can move that process up sooner.

THE IMPORTANT PART
We built an internal invoice for this truck.
If you brought this exact vehicle to Precision Land Cruisers for the same restoration and repairs, the bill would have exceeded $61,000.
We will also extend our shop warranty to the buyer exactly as if you were one of our restoration customers:
• 6 month warranty
• Parts and labor included

Find another professionally restored 30-year-old boosted triple-locked Land Cruiser with that kind of backing for his price..I dare you . I am a very busy shop with not much time for tire kickers. I will do a few emails and some more pics if desired. a Phone call or two. Then it's time to see it in person.

I have a 93 Triple Locked with 94 ECU, so it’s exactly like a 94. CDL mod, 2-1/2” OME lift, ARB front bumper (the Long Horn winch doesn’t reel back in).

Rust free Utah/Colorado vehicle , located in NW Colorado.

Fully baselined with documentation by Slee Off-road in Golden Colorado at 200K miles, and currently sitting at 210K. I told Slee to do everything necessary to ensure it reliable for wheeling, so new burfields, axle shafts, hoses, etc, etc. $10K worth of work.

Green with gray leather.

Not perfect, but mechanically sound.

Has small dings on the forward left corner of the fender and hood where the PO was forced off the road into a snow bank’ along with scuffs on the bumper.

Things it needs;

New tires (BFG K02 got me through this last Winter, but they need to be replaced).
New windshield.
New antenna.
New battery (starts fine, but if I don’t drive is at least every three days or so, I need to jump it).

Only known problems that are minor;

Low fuel light constantly on (fuel gauge works fine).
Trip odometer stuck at 4-miles (the regular odometer works fine) .

I’m close to you, 20-miles south of the Wyoming border in NW Colorado.

Best to text me as I live off grid.

970 eight4six 6386

I’m heading (going up with a friend) to Cody for a Long Range Precision Rifle Match end of June, and can meet you in Riverton with the vehicle on Friday, and let you have it for the weekend to test drive and inspect, and then meet you there again on Monday to pick it up, or do the sale transaction if it meets your requirements.
