I've been in red wing for seven years now, on my second pair. I do hardscaping, site work and interior demolition and love them in all situations. One of my co-workers swears by his Justins, but he had them custom made 3 years ago for @ $350, so he better be happy with them. Other than feel and fit, I stay with red wing because of my local service. My second pair had the sole split due to kneeling and separated from the upper after 2 months of wear. They replaced them at no cost to me, then gave me the bad pair back after they had been repaired. Can't beat that.

I bought a pair of Wolverine Compressor boots 3 years ago, they are by far the most comfortable boots I've ever worn. They are a little pricey but if you shop around online you can find a good deal.

I have been wearing westco boots for over 15 years. I abuse the piss out off them, welding, mud, snow, rain.

Most of the Red Wings are made in the USA still.

There's number 1 for me!!!!!

fawk China made shoes.

All the Redwing safety shoes(steel toed) are made in the USA. But there recreation line or normal foot wear is starting to be made in China.

I buy Redwings cause they are made in North America. Also cause they are the best boots I have worn.

I just got my first pair of steel toed shoes yesterday. Another great pair of redwings. Pretty solid shoes, not too heavy.

Support products made in North America. Otherwise they too will eventually move productions out to China.

I would rather see production in Mexico than China. Think if the USA had more factories in Mexico rather than China than the illegal immigrant problem would be lessened. If they have good jobs they are not going to flood over the border.

We used to get Red Wings, and I liked them, a little heavy, but they did have steel toes. We have switched to Danner (they're factory is only a couple miles away) and I love them, they were also standard issue at Seal Team One when I was there, and I have abused several pairs, but they are all holding up very well. They are so comfortable for me that I don't use any insert, except the little plastic half heel cup thingy that comes with them.

I used to wear red wings but found that the service went down hill on the last pair I bought. Took them in for resoling and they put on a cheaper sole that only lasted about 3 months. I am a big guy that works on concrete all day. So I switched to the new terra ballistic nylon boots. They are pretty good and stay fairly dry with the gortex linner in them. They lasted about a year. The only thing that wears on them is the sole and I believe that because it id injected molded it cannot be resoled. Now I have a boot mage offshore in Korea I believe. It is totally non metalic gortex lined and also has a vibram sole. And because it is bulistic nylon it tends to last longer and alos breath pretty good.

Wolverine Dura-Shocks 8"

I wear my boots about 360 days a year (seriously, ask my wife) A pair will last me about a year

Just got a new pair for $140 at Boot Barn

I'm on my feet all day long walking construction sites during the week or working at the farm on the weekends. In the last several years I've noticed the Redwing quality go down. The stitching would come loose on the soles or the soles would just wear out prematurely. I tried Justin's, Doc Marten's, Wolverine's and even Caterpillar boots but I seem to wear them out in about a year or less. I am now wearing Ariat's and while the initial wear is fine , once they are broke in they are stiff and uncomfortable imo. So, I was given a pair of combat boots, yes, USGI green lace ups from the USAF and they have served me well for 2 years now. I wear them to work and at the farm and although they have gotten dirty, they have held up to everything I've thrown at them and then some and the best part is that they were free!

RED WING 4 LIFE! i know countless people who have had the same pair for 15+ years

For work, Whites for sure! For hunting, Danners.

I love my Danners, but after 15 years they are getting sqeaky. They are still great trail boots. I don't wear them to work any more.

I have a new pair of Red Wings for work.

The Red Wings wore out pretty quickly.

I'm doing the Timberland Pros now. So far, so good.

Whites, Nicks, or Drews are the way to go. All hand made boots and can be custom made to you specific foot and leg size. I have had other shelf brand boots and never get more than a year out of them. I get about a year or two on my Whites depending on how tough a fire season I have. I get about 3 or 4 rebuilds on them before they are too far to gone to be rebuilt again.

I have worn the same boots for nearly 20 years and only replace them about every 5-7.

I have always preferred these:

I am currently using these though just to try something different and love them:

Sears: Appliances, Tools, Electronics, Apparel and more from Craftsman, Kenmore, Diehard and other Leading Brands

But these have the same soles which should last as long:
