I wanted a 200 before Joey stepped up, now it is an obsession.

Need to buy lots of stuff so he can hire staff and go to events.

Yeah, I looked at a used 2014 at my local dealership the other day. They just took it in on trade for a 2016. White, 9k miles. $50k. It's the first time I've been tempted to buy a newer Land Cruiser since I bought my 2003 100 Series. And my wife loves it...

Gotta keep the wife happy.....

Joey has been great to work with. My wife misses her daily driver for dropping the boys off at school but she's survived driving the Tundra. As already stated, he's madly creative and meticulous on every aspect of his designs. I've shared a bunch of ideas and he's taken all of them to the next level.

Sounds like a really good price - are you guys going to pick it up? Mind sharing what dealer has it on the lot? Looking for a low mile for my wife.

Yeah, I'll share if I don't buy it. I was told that it won't make the lot. They have a list of buyers. We'll see.

Yeah this year I'd love to be able to step things up a bit. I've almost saturated the hell out of the 80s so I knew I needed to expand. I F'ing hate Jeeps so I'm doing everything I can to stay with Toyota trucks. :D
If you want volume start making cool stuff for the Camry!:hillbilly:

Make us some covers for the holes in the back of the front seats when we (inevitably) remove the rear-facing LCD screens in the '16+ cruisers.

Sold. I chickened out. They sold it for $54k. $50k was what they gave for it on trade, yesterday.

I may regret it but I couldn't bring myself to spend that much money on a vehicle.

$50k would definitely have been a great price, but we wouldn't have been interested at $54k. I agree it's a lot of coin - the only reason I was ok with our 14 is that the original owner took the biggest hit for depreciation and for the cost of the mods, but it's still a lot of money no matter how you look at it.

I'm good friends with the GM and have known him for years. He told me he would sell it to me for what they paid just so I would be driving a newer Land Cruiser.

I think I've bought somewhere around 30 new Toyotas from this dealership over the years but haven't bought a vehicle from them since my 03 100, 03 Taco, and 03 Sequoia were all bought new.

I bought my 92 from them new when I was 16.

I'll break down and buy a 200 Series at some point. I need it to be cheaper though. I just don't spend money on depreciating assets like that anymore. Kids and their stupid college!

Is that really a thing?!

Sure enough! The '16+ Cruisers have a rear-facing 11.5" LCD screen stuck awkwardly on the back of both front seats. They are hopelessly in the way of most normal uses of the truck (and they even make it hard to flip-fold the second row seats). Pretty much everyone on here who has them would like to remove them. Even those with kids write about how they make better foot rests than monitors for the kids. :) Anyway, removing them leaves a large (roughly 3"X10") rectangular hole in the back of the front seat full of wires and bolts. Some have contemplated making a wood cover or cloth cover, or plastic cover, but no one has a good solution yet. One member had an upholstery shop in Denver custom make covers, but nobody has heard more about that since last October. If you ever get your hands on a recent Cruiser, take a look. I could send detailed photos and dimensions, but it you were to do a production run of a cover you'd probably want to see the problem for yourself. There would be a at least a few orders if you made them and advertised them on here.

BTW, I've had your web site bookmarked on my browser for a long time, hoping you would start up with good stuff for the 200.

Interesting. The 2014 I have here obviously doesn't have those. Send over dimensions and I'll add to the list. Sounds simple but I'd be interested to find out if there is a better utilization for that space other than just a boring cover?

I'll take one out and send photos/dimensions. I agree with maybe more than just a "boring cover". There is power there (for the screen), so perhaps a USB port or 12VDC receptacle could be added to the cover? I'll warm up my Visa card too.

Yeah that's a given. I just need to figure out the plug type so I can make something plug-n-play

How about some sort of docking station for iPhones and iPads for people that let their kids ride in their Land Cruiser.

Just like the cool box insert that someone got around to making, a LCD screen delete for the latest 200's would be a big hit. How did Toyota think this was a good idea?

Here are some photos. 3rd one down is the bottom of the back of the removed screen base.

And a couple more. The scrap wood I had lying around to draft up a cover in that last photo did not past the wife test. ;) It was 9"X3"X1/8"

And, while you're in create mode, I'll toss one more idea out there. I'd love (to buy) some covers for the holes left in the floor and wheel wells when the 3rd row seats are removed. The '14 you have would show that problem, since the 200s are all the same there.
