Howdy y'all,

Really not sure what I should do with this one, I'd appreciate any help/insight.

When I pull back on the switch for the headlights (as if I were temp flashing someone), the brights work perfectly fine. If I push the stalk forward to keep the brights on, it actually kills all my headlights. I've been kind of sitting on this one but I'm pretty sure I can go in and try to clean the contacts and see if that fixes it.

HOWEVER, now the next issue I have is the little cap at the end of the stalk to switch the headlights on/off has popped off and now comes off in my hand every once in a while when I'm turning the lights on/off or turning. I posted on a facebook page and someone mentioned I could super glue a couple of the plastic parts to get it to stick back to the cap, I tried that and it ended up making it so I couldn't turn it anymore to get my headlights on until I turned hard enough to break the glue.

I looked for a replacement at partsouq, amayama, ourisman and tons of other places and can't seem to find ANY (especially hard for the RHD models), except 1 listing from ebay where it was like $400 for the part and $500 for shipping.

Any other options I'm not thinking of? Any hidden gems for parts?

Obviously RHD 2nd had parts will be hard to find in NA. Have you confirmed it’s no longer available from Toyota? Have you looked to see if there is a cross over to another vehicle of the same vintage? Depending on what’s broken is there any reason to source a LHD to see if you can repair yours with LHD parts?

Is that the correct part number? It was the first site that came up on my Google search but I don’t have your VIN so I made some educated guesses.

You likely have at least two issues. The actual switch that flashes or locks your brights is not part of the stalk switch. You likely have a problem with your combo switch, part 84140 in the image above.

Having your lights go out when you lock the brights on is definitely strange, and you may have a grounding or other issue on the headlight relay activation circuit.

Take a look at this thread where I chased down similar issues and documented what I found: High beams will flash but won't stay on - anyone know how the switch works? - https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/high-beams-will-flash-but-wont-stay-on-anyone-know-how-the-switch-works.1352445/

I haven't spoken with anyone at Toyota, but every site I've used shows that it's no longer in production. Historically Ourisman Toyota has been my go to for parts and it's not available there either. I haven't been able to find any information if there's a cross over to another vehicle, I've searched everywhere and haven't found any valuable information :/

I was hoping I could maybe try to go for a LHD one and see if I can make it work there, but from what I can tell, I wouldn't be able to use the entire unit, and the levers themselves are bent in the opposite direction for where I'd have to put them on mine.

I could also just be a giant idiot.

Thank you, I found that and a few other sites, but when i started digging into it, it seemed like this site was not very safe to order from. Unless anyone else has good experience with them.

hmmmmmm good info, thank you! Looks like I may need that combo switch thing you got to solve the issue with the brights.

have you contacted Specter Offroad ? https://www.sor.com/

they have a wide array of part-out vehicles and used parts, and would most likely have a lead on a non-US-market new OEM part
