I have had this pig for a few years ,it came without an engine but it had a th350 transmission with stock fj55 transfer case. I’m planning a full restoration but not sure what engine to go with, I was thinking Ls1 should fit up to the th350 pretty easily but in New Zealand petrol is $2.20 a litre and I can get as much diesel as I want from work so I was wondering if a 1hdt engine would fit into an fj55, has anyone done this conversion before?
I will be doing a 2 inch body lift and 2 inch suspension lift which will provide a bit more room.

I wouldn't do a body lift on a pig... I can't see an easy/reasonable/natural way to disguise it.
Well...Ron has a small body lift & easily one of the posterboy trucks on here, just sayin

1” spacers or “pucks”. I didn’t even realize it until I read thru SLOW71 for the second or third time.
Yeah that’s the look I was going for just a small body lift.
I got my inspiration from scrapdaddy I hope to do something similar ,maybe not to the same detail.
I wanted to keep the build all Toyota so I have some 60 series axels and power steering I will do the OME suspension and 1hdt engine with h55 or h150 transmission.

Yeah, I had a problem with the oil pan and the axle touching on full stuff plus the 1" lift gave me some room to tuck the big azz fuel tank up into the frame. Things like body lifts always bugged me, but with the 1" I don't notice it at all.
