Hi all,I’ve been working on cruisers for 20 yrs and over the yrs I’ve accumulated a lot of parts around, behind, inside and outside my shop.wondering what am I going to do with the 1hz h55 toybox that have been sitting there for yrs,the 60 series fullfloat taking up space, the 2H h55 in the hj60 parts truck....
So when my friend Tom said he’s going to sell his 55,I thought all this parts I’ve sitting for yrs can finally be put to good use,a classic cruiser with a Diesel drivetrain.
Tom had imported the 71fj55 in 2000 from Idaho and the truck had seen very little use and have been sitting for 15 yrs.i sold the F engine and was going to drop the 1HZ I’ve into it,but then I found a wrecked Hdj81 with the 1hdt and decided to use the 1hdt .

All my cruisers in the last 20 yrs were diesels
Bj60,hj60,bj74,hzj77,bj42,hdj81,except thefj45,fj80 and Fzj80 which were gas guzzlers .....

At first it doesn’t look like the 1hdt will fit in between the fj55 frame....

After test fitting the 1hdt,looks like it will fit ,I cut the engine mounts from the hdj81 and welded them to the 55 frame, the H55 with the marlin toybox is a bit too long to fit under the floor,so I cut out about 6” of the floor ....

Always wondering why it’s so hard to push the fh55 in and out the shop, almost all the brake wheel cylinders are seized,I decided to use 60 series front and rear axles ,I know I’ve a Hj61 rear fullfloat somewhere under the snow behind my shop.....

Is your 62 auto or manual?

Nice work. Your conversion is coming along nicely. You might want to check out the 55 section. We love watching builds like yours.
