Why not an extended tie rod end to elevate drag link???

Hey Guys,

I haven't been able to find any info on the topic for our 80 series rigs? I have bent my drag link running into rocks. I don't have the budget for high steer, so just wondering if anybody has ever produced or even considered an extended tie rod end for the drag link that would elevate the passenger side of the drag link at least a few inches.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

UPDATE 9/20/16

What about extended tie rod ends for the tie rod... increasing the distance between the tie rod and radius arms, enabling more rotation of the axle via plates, bushings, etc to increase caster. Could that work?

You would need to raise the panhard as well to avoid bumpsteer. Panhard and draglink should run parallel to each other.

I think it would add leverage to the end and be a quick failure point. I have a Budbuilt drag link sitting in my garage. They're pretty hard to bend, but I managed to bend one on my White 80. Bud replaced it.

Do you have a picture of what you are referring to?

What about for the tie rod? Would raising that an inch or so with tall tie rod ends cause any misalignment issues?

Using a taller TRE will magnify slop in the ball type joint and may induce death wobble. You have increased the lever arm as well as increasing the forces on the joint and the longer the lever arm, the more movement you will have.
