So I have been searching around and I finally got a line on a used GT2560R. Are all of them the same? I have seen a picture of it a/r on the compressor housing is .60 and says M24 just want to make sure it's the right one!

guy said it is a from a JDM S14 SR20DET T28 Ball Bearing Turbo??

From what I have read this turbo is an excellent match and will provide me with more low end boost than the GT2860R correct??

Matt

Yes. :)

that's correct ..

Hi Would a GT1752 ar.47 hot side and ar.53 cold side with 55 trim be to small for my 2h?

Yes. That would be a good turbo for a diesel half the size.

hope no one minds me diggin up old threads... i guess it beats starting a new one asking the same ole questions... I as many 2h owners happen to be researching this CT26/17201 68010 Turbocharger. They appear to be pretty available and cheep. I have searched for this and found inconsistant results on if the CT26 is a viable turbo for the 2h engine. There appears to be several models to choose from but the submodel never appers to be discussed... i posted in this thread because somone claimed the CT26 was a no go for the 2h but i want to clarify there are lots of different types (probably with different A/R?).

CT26 17201- 17030 - 1HD-FT
CT26 17201- 17040 - 1HD-FTE
CT26 17201- 17010 - 1HT-T
CT26 17201- 68010 - 12HT
CT26 17201- 74010 - 3SGTE

the 68010 is for the 12HT seems like a viable turbo for the 2h as the 12HT was the Direct Injection turbo cousin of the 2h (both are part of the H series diesel engines from toyota). Does anyone know how to track down the map for this turbo? Is the waste gate adjustable? Other thoughts? ANyone tried this one?

Thanks,

Im certain there are ct26s out there that will map great on a 2h, or any other motor. The problem is the people who have maps dont share them so it all guess work and trial and error as far as sizing these turbos. It is pretty much the only reason I dont like them. There are other turbos just as available with detailed maps and turbine sizes and all the other tid bits of info that makes it easy to compare one to the other. So far here people spout off ct26 this and ct26 that but not turbine/compressor size and trim with maps or turbine housing cm/ar, its all about what vehicle its off of as if that helps detmine how big the turbo is. Start posting measured wheel sizes exducer and inducer and turbine housing cm and you might get alot more accurate info for what you want. It is alot of work to do this and in my opinion its alot easier to go with garrett or MHI as ther is a huge aftermarket industry out there waiting for you to pretty much plug in and make what ever turbo you want.

ill take a look at those. the only thing I have my heart set on is the 200$ price tag that these things are going for on ebay. and I totally agree, all the threads I have read so far, lots of little tid bits but no total formula. I am astonished that 200 bucks and some plumbing is so proprietary that people are charging3k for a kit. im still baffled. the engineering here isn't rocket science. garret has a great turbo 101 tutorial on their web site, but im still even too cheap to buy theirs :meh:

It all depends on what kind of turbo you want. New BB? or old journal? Is cost the major point? when do you want the boost and how much? The beauty of ebay is that it bring to you a wide selection of turbos, you just need to know what to look for. If you let us know what you want im sure you will get swamped with advice.

Hey guys, long time no read :D
I used the CT26 because it was available at the right price and someone had painted "12HT" on the waste gate. I figured at the time that it would be a fairly good match to my 2H. I knew very little about the compressor ratios etc. I guess it was a bit of a gamble that paid off :grinpimp:
It's been forcing air into the old girl for almost 5 years now with absolutely no sign of slowing. It runs just over 10lb boost but I can drive it with no boost around town if I want. Open road and towing is where it works best

Primarily I'm looking for minimal boost just enough to tow my measly 1200lbs trailer up to the mountains 7500ft or so. I would like to not smoke above 4500ft like it does now. I'm happy being slow to accelerate and slow on the freeway. I'm in phx and often travel to high places in summer to escape tue heat. Thanks for all the replies! Again, all advice welcome. Although arbitrary, I was thinking 8lbs or less would be good for a bit of extra umph to tow, enough so my engine doesn't know it's at altitude, and low enough boost not to tax the engine seeing as how it is old, the compression won't be lowered, and its an indirect injection. And yes I want cheep cheep cheep. I can fab up pipes no problem

Ok, so I will be recommending the same old same old turbos I have in the past. I like MHI for its vast array of sizes and interchangeability. There are also tons of them available with low kms as many come off of performance cars that get swapped out for larger units to upp the power.

The MHI td05h-14b-6 off 89-94 Mitsubishi Eclipse / Eagle Talon Car with 4G63 Engine chra 49178-09010
It is most likely the cheapest and easist one to find. They are also easy to fnd in local wreckers.

There are also td04hl that come in a 15g, 16t and 18t compressor wheels off of late 90 volvos and sabbs with 6cm and 7cm exhaust housings. Ill have to post up some reference numbers later. All map well and usually run 11lbs internal wastegates. Any one if these turbos would do what you want it to. If you have a bunch of different types you can look for reguarly on ebay you have a good chance of getting one for a good deal. Lots of aftermarket flanges and wheels and parts as well.

Now in the 2000s there came available some pretty wild evo turbos around with divided housings, 360 thrust bearings and very nice compressors, but im still learning about them and am not sure how it would performe on a 2h. It would sort of be a bit overkill for what you want. I happen to have one in my garage that I plan on playing with, sometime after my 4yr old graduates from highschool. Keep in mind that I found it for 350$, on ebay, so if you know what to look for you dont have to pay tons of money.

I would be weary of buying an ebay turbo that is not genuine MHI. There is one for sure way of knowing that it is not genuine, it will be brand new and very inexpensive. Im sure some will work well, but that is for another thread. If you get an old turbo with normal play and map it for your truck and run 8lbs off it, it will last a very long time.

You can also message a guy who sells stuff from a wrecker in LA. I have bought from him before and he is a stand up guy. Had to do a return and he was good to deal with.

thanks for the info! much more to study and learn, but this helps me stay on track...

I've been reading and reading and reading some more and I'm getting more and more confused.
I'm pretty seriously considering an EBay Gt2871rs power spirit turbo for my 2h. Just worried the gt2871rs may boost too late in the rev range.
Has anyone used this turbo on a 2h before?
-TURBINE TRIM: 75.8
- TURBINE A/R: .64
- COMPRESSOR TRIM: 59.5
- COMPRESSOR A/R: .60
Compressor side
inlet 60mm, outlet 50mm, 56-trim compressor; inducer 45mm, exducer 60mm
Exhaust side
0.64 A/R turbine housing, turbine wheel outlet 46mm, outer diameter 53mm

Thanks in advance gurus.

It'll work, but it's going to be slower boosting than I'd fit. It's also bigger compressor than you need.

I runaa dts kit with the td05 on my 2h, i see 15 psi by 3000 and pull 20 all the way threw to nearly 5000rpm... (new car wanted to see what it had lol) and it not only goes extremely well but pulls great.

Cheers guys, what about this one?
GT2871 Turbocharger
Exhaust (Turbo Manifold) Flange
Standard T25 Flange
Exhaust (Downpipe) Flange 5 Bolt
Cooling Type Water + Oil
Horse Power Boost Horse Power up to 400BHP
Compressor Trim 48 Inducer Diameter 49.20mmExducer Diameter 71mmA/R 0.6
Turbine
Trim 76 Inducer Diameter 53.8mm Exducer Diameter 47mm A/R 0.64

Manifold I've had made has a T2# flange so pretty keen to stay with that as I was pretty set on Gt2871rs, just not sure enough to commit.

15psi at 3000rpm is very late to the party. Most want max boost by 2000rpm or you lose a lot of torque.

Same turbine as previous and the same problem. The difference between GT2871 and GT2871RS is nothing for this application.
