Ha! I figured someone would comment about that. Normally I would agree with you, but when winter hit -7 degrees and my commute was only 4 miles at 35mph one way, the coolant never heated up enough to work the heater. I tried blocking the radiator and intercooler, and that did help, but it still never produced enough heat. The best thing I did was to install a block heater with a timer late in the winter. I had it kick on about 2 hours before I wanted to leave. Worked great getting to work, not so much commuting home.

On the triple bypass you asked about the muffler on the faux-lux. I got an answer for you (and another one going on the 3B/turbo 40 soon)....

In the process of swapping out the springs to OME and running anti-inversion shackles from MAF, I realized I have to rework the exhaust. the tail pipe was only about 1/2" from the shackle hanger, and the inversion component needs to occupy that space. I took the bandsaw to the muffler to flop it over and put the outlet further towards the center of the truck. In doing so, I realized just how much carbon has built up along the lining of the pipe, and since this isn't a straight through muffler, I can imagine inside the U as well. Just for fun, I'm going to run it a bit with no muffler and see what that does to noise/egt's before I decide which way to go.

I also pulled the intercooler earlier this year when I replaced the radiator. I've gone back to a "crossflow" (stock) design for the radiator pipes instead of having both rad pipes on the driver side. I never overheated with the old one, but I have to imagine it will work better this way. My boost wasn't hitting as quick as it used to, so maybe with no intercooler and no muffler, I'll get back some of the old performance.
