It think it is supposed to be annoying.

My maintenance spreadsheet has a page on it that calculates the average age of the fluid in the system as well.

Well I switched to GEICO and saved a bunch of money on my car insurance. :hillbilly:

I run Castrol Dexron 3 dino and change it every 10-12,000 miles. Always have, always will.

Yes it is supposed to be funny. Go see the movie office space (I think, I don't get out much) and you will see why it is funny.

Watch the movie 'Office Space' and all will become clear. I personally liked the other guy stomping it with his heel.

tech related:

Doing a couple drain & fills with fresh Dex III dino and adding a little AutoRX to get crud out, then switching to Mobile1 synthetic via a full flush this summer.

I've used AutoRx in my engine, but not the transmission. How long do they recommend running it in the tranny before you do the rinse?

The standared for ATF is much higher than engine oil, so synthetic ATF is NOT much better than regular ATF, but in engine oil, synthetic is way better than regular oil, just a little info I received and thought I would pass on.

Sorry but that isn't correct. ATF uses less additives than motor oils. All ATF is a 10-20 weight oil with its own additive package.

Is that from the "copier in the field" scene? I figured it was a picture of you while you were adjusting your valves. :flipoff2:

:D :D :D

In all seriousness, has ANYONE with a 93 had a 6 qt fill?

FSM says drain and fill with 6.3qts.

I put in 6, checked the dipstick (while running and warm per the FSM), but the fluid is all over the stick as it was before.

As for the stuff that came out, it was only 3.75 qts, but some leaked out when i did my radiator and the PO slacked on maintenence.

Nope.

I think it was when he was working on his sub-tank sender.

When I pulled my pan to replace a solenoid I had the pan off for a hour or so and the trans never did quit dripping. By the time I got it buttoned back up I put right at 7 quarts back in.

Cool! Makes me feel better!

Truck is MUCH quiter and happier with the fluid change!

God knows how long the other stuff was in there! :D

Add 6oz. Auto-Rx and run 1000-1500 miles. Then perform a full trans. fluid exchange as described in the 80 series FAQ.

If you don't know the history of your transmission & fluid, I would recommend doing a drain & fill with every couple oil changes for a while before using an additive such as Auto-Rx. You want to get any varnish and grime out of there - but slowly and not all at once. Some fresh trans. fluid will help replenish the detergents that get depleted in old trans. fluid and will do some cleaning on it's own. I'm using dino trans fluid until for some drain & fills prior to the Auto-Rx. Then I'll switch to synthetic after I'm all done.
