GRM: great information. Thanks.

Anyone have the year/vehicle or part numbers for these master cylinders?

Off the top of my head:

79-86 Mini trucks used a 13/16" Master

87-89 mini trucks & 4runners, and Fj60's used a 7/8" Master

92-95 4runners, T100's and FZJ80's used 1" masters

Also: Do not use an ABS master without the ABS module. They have increased suction pressure when you let off the brake pedal. This is good with ABS, but can blow the seals in your calipers if you don't have the module in line.

My 1" master came off of 1992 2wd 1 ton dully (U-Haul truck)

V6 4runner is the easiest way to be certain.

Forget that overpriced Autozone crap. I just installed these on a buddies 40 with vented rotors and they work GREAT!

19-1601 caliper $50.79
19-1600 caliper $50.79
MKD 611 pads $21.99

If you order online they will knock $20 off this order and you can still pick it up in the store. They will even tell you which stores have them in stock.

Good luck,
Jeremy

These are the same ones that I´m putting in my rear. Bascally 4runner calipers and disks.

What about Land Cruisers? 40's and 55's? I assume they use the 7/8" master because they have the corresponding 2 small and 2 large pistons per caliper.

What if I want to eventually upgrade to rear discs? I plan to use the GM/el dorado setup most likely. Do folks suggest an upgrade to the 1" master, and therefore the 4 large piston calipers too? I think that's what I understand from all this reading...

I'm about to go out and buy new calipers today to finish my front brakes, but I'm not ready to buy the rear disc setup, yet. I should probably upgrade the calipers at this time. I am bit nervous that if I upgrade the calipers now I may have issues with not upgrading the master yet...

What would you do?

caliper

SO here are pics of the two different calipers, that I put a caliper on to show you the difference in spacing.

My question is if there is a thicker pad or thicker rotor (vented) to use.

So the v6 4 runner (t100) has 31 mm rotor space, while the 85 landcruiser has 26mm.

Thoughts?

That would be late v6 4runner (92 or 93 to 95). They also have a larger OD rotor. As far as I know, they will not work with a LC, UNLESS, you run IFS mini truck hubs, and widen the front axle by 2.75"

Go for a 92 V6 toyota pickup front caliper. It should be good for the swap (but you may need to grind down the cooling fins to clear the wheels.

And FJ-60's used a 7/8" master, as they used a '2 small 2 large' piston caliper. Most swaps I have dealt with swap lc and mini-truck master cyl and boosters back and forth, depending on clearance issues.
