I have mini front knuckles. I am replacing the rotors and calipers. I just received some '81 LC vented rotors and now I am lookig for the calipers. I want the V6 truck calipers. I am looking at AutoZone.com for 1990 4WD V6 calipers. This is correct, yes?

Anyway, they show a picture of the 1/2 ton model and not of the 1 ton. Does anyone know which I should get?

[Edit] removed the bad link.

The P1242 are the 1 ton and P1240 are the 1/2 ton.

Thanks,

Steve

Forget that overpriced Autozone crap. I just installed these on a buddies 40 with vented rotors and they work GREAT!

19-1601 caliper $50.79
19-1600 caliper $50.79
MKD 611 pads $21.99

If you order online they will knock $20 off this order and you can still pick it up in the store. They will even tell you which stores have them in stock.

Good luck,
Jeremy

Well at $103 for the loaded calipers at AutoZone they are cheaper than Advance Auto Parts...

I just want to be certain I am picking the correct one. I suspect thge 1/2 ton set are the ones I want.

V6 4runner is the easiest way to be certain.

Sorry, the Advance calipers are $103.57, the link you posted had them at $123 from Autozone. I guess you meant to post a different link. Glad you got what you needed.

I went back and followed that link. It didn't work out. Weird. I deleted the link. The calipers were $103 something and I can pick up down the street. It all works out in the end ;)

The link he posted was for loaded calipers (it took me to loaded calipers for my el camino since that was the last vehicle I told the system I had). Same total price as your calipers plus pads.

Late 70's trans-am used rear park brake calipers.

what year did you use?

and what year Monty Carlo used the e brake attached to the rear caliper?

They did not have rear disc brakes from the factory.....

El Dorado calipers have the parking brake provision.

:meh:

'79-'81 with the 4 wheel disc brake option, same caliper as the El Dorado rears though.

Well my local AutoZone could not get the front calipers for a '90 V6 4-Runner. There were none in the channel. I ordered from RockAuto. Keeping my fingers crossed that they have them.

Must be running low from all of the mini-truck calipers they get as cores

Look for a used set. My local pull-a-part always seems to have a couple of freshly wrecked early '90s 4-Runners.

question: What rotor do you need, as I bought these and there is a ton of space with these on. I have vented rotors from a landcruiser fj60. These have about 1/2 gap when the piston is compressed fully.

there are a few different versions:

4 small piston calipers (use a 13/16" master cyl)
2 small, 2 large piston calipers (use a 7/8" master cyl)
and 4 large piston calipers (use a 1" master cyl)

Also, some 93-95 4runner, and 4wd t-100's used a slightly larger rotor and caliper.

I run '92 4runner calipers, which are the 4 large piston type, with fj60 rotors.

GRM: great information. Thanks.

Anyone have the year/vehicle or part numbers for these master cylinders?

srgould41, I will see if I can find a later model fj40 rotor, as there is a good 1/2 inch of open area. I am using the fj60 vented rotor from a 84 fj60.

I will take a picture, and compare the width opening area of the two calipers. I wonder if I have the wrong brake pads? I am sure I got the mkd 611 pads in the above screen print.
