Where to go?

The and I are looking to take a 2-3 day road trip in January, where are some of the hidden gems in the south east for natural beauty, hiking, camping, general neat places, etc..?

I know I've seen some amazing pictures of semi-local scenery that you guys have posted in the past, but I can't find the threads for the life of me.

Any recommendations?

Come to hot springs and go to the horse races, depends when in January. Races start middle of the month.

Head to Natchez. Explore the local area. Cross river at New Roads. Work plantations on West Bank to NOLA.

We've discussed both the Natchez area and Hot Springs, so at least I was on the right path.

The cabin we are looking at seems to be about 30 miles outside of natchez, Oak Alley looks like a legit option.

Meandering around the MS river south of Natchez is awesome

There are some awesome restaurants around there. This is my favorite just outside BR

Sipsey River area in Alabama, all around Chattanooga, Tishomingo State Park is great, Land Between the Lakes is supposed to be great but I haven't been yet.

Lake Guntersville area over here in N Alabama has been impressive.
Multiple state parks with hiking trails. A huge cavern state park.
Also some other nice places along the way.

The space center in HSV is also very cool.
Good backup in case the weather takes a dive, being that you are looking at Jan time
