My friends came home from NOLA with a nasty bill on their cc from The American Family Restaurant.

Not sure of the food quality but the "servers" really put it all out there for tips!

I second grogan's suggestion since it will matter how much time you have and wether it's lunch or dinner, dive or white tablecloth you're looking for.

The nice part about NOLA is there are so many good to great places to eat. I will tell you one thing that I learned when I lived there NO ONE in town can do BBQ well.

More good places to eat than bad and I can't think of another place that I have visited like that.

I have even had the best pizza pie from there....tower of pizza in metairie.

The Joint - BBQ In the Bywater, New Orleans

Haven't searched carefully but Creshale's and the Mayflower are old time favorites of mine, both for the vibe and the food. I don't order cooked fish in Jackson anywhere other than Mayflower.

I go a descent amount. I used to go twice a month or so while growing up in Clinton.

I really want to go there. Is it dinner only? Never been.

just dinner, I use to eat there all the time. proposed to Den Mom there.
It use to be real good, ate there about three years ago. meh.

He told my Dad a few months back that he was having a really hard time keeping good help in the back of the house. Dad just sat there and listened while hoping his car wasn't getting jacked.

The only BBQ I recommend other than Texas. It is divine. Its not in a class with rudys or hard 8. But it is really good...And of course it's a funky dive like most home grown places in Nola.

The only other crescent city BBQ I recommend are BBQ skrimps!
