With a reminder of my dislike for my current sticky steering wheel and the threads on new or replacement wheels. I installed a wheelskins cover today.
Wheelskins - The World's Finest Genuine Leather Motoring Accessories, Steering Wheel Covers, Driving Gloves and Shift Boots I chose Grey/charcoal AXX I had a couple exta hours today due to no snowshoe tours. So I sat down, turned on some tunes and got my sew on. Took me 1.5 hrs. ducktaped my fingers, but they still hurt.

Color match is better than it looks. See pic of box on seat. The camera flash makes it look lighter.

Was that size really tight? I haven't done one for years but found unless they are really tight to install originally they end up stretching and becoming loose. I am interested to find out.

Would like to hear your feedback on steering wheel feel in the coming days, i.e. how does the "new" steering wheel feel in your hands? I'm very interested in doing this for my 2002 LC. Thanks in advance.

Price point? Looks good.

From the OP's link, it looks like cost is between $50-60 depending on single color or two-tone, as well as regular or perforated leather. OP's cost was $55 for two-tone regular leather.

It was super tight to the point I though, "this is too small and I'll have to send it back" $50 I'll see how it holds up.

I almost ordered one of these last week, but was worried about the color match. Yours turned out looking really nice, GREAT JOB! The Charcoal looks like a close to perfect match! Going to order one today!

Order complete!! It was fast and simple. Thanks for the link. I did the same color combination as yours, but I did the Euro Perforated on the charcoal left and right sides similar to the stock steering wheel. It was an extra $5 to go that route. Sure hope it looks as good as yours turned out. I will post up the results within this thread once completed.

Ordered oak top and bottom and oak on the sides. I did the Euro Perforated on the sides as well. I just have to try this vs a new wheel for over $750!

I ordered two covers from Wheelskins yesterday to see which color (oak or sand) looks better with the tan interior. Really good option for the price it seems.

Has anyone investigated B&I trim? I did a search on here but came up empty. I have a quote from them for $237 for a new wheel covering which includes the leather and wood. This is a core exchange program. Has anyone used them? Seems like a killer deal - which makes me nervous.

I got around to installing my wheel skin cover on my Cruiser. Like I said in an above post I did Euro Perforated in charcoal on the left and right sides and normal gray on the top and bottom sections in size AXX. I have to say I'm very pleased with the color match! It took me about 2 hours to do (i'm obviosly slower than Farnham :)) and like he said installation will kill your fingers even taped up, but well worth the pain for how it all turned out.

Thanks for the original post Farnham, it motivated me to order this and do it. I am not disappointed with the decision and effort it took to install it.

Zane, that looks great!

I ordered Oak and it was way to light with my tan interior. I have now ordered Brown and hope it matches. The steering wheel is a really dark brown.

I've driven with it a few times now. Feel is pretty good. It's a little bigger than before but not unpleasant. It felt slippery compared to my dirty old sticky leather, but I'm glad I did it. Zane, I like the perf, cool.

Ok I'm ready to join the Wheelskins craze - can't seem to justify the cost of a LX470 wheel so the wheelskins is the sensible option. Question - what color should I order from their site - Oak, brown or Sand? I want it to match and not sure which option is the right choice. My steering wheel below -

minimum.

When I ordered my wheel skin online I needed clarity on my order and called them. During my conversation with them they offered to send samples of leather for free to help me pick the right color. I opted not to and just ordered the colors that Farnham had ordered. You might just call them and ask for them to send you the different samples of brown and tan.

I will confirm right color tonight as I ordered two and the lighter one (oak) was definitely way too light. Sand looks right but I will provide pics so you can see for yourself.
