Eduardo,

I just tested it again and the install manual downloads fine. Christo is hosting them for me and the manuals are also linked somewhere on his site. You want to right-click on the link to the ZIP file, save-as and pick a location on your PC (C:\Temp works) then open the zip file and you'll see 13 pages, each a .pdf file.)

No passwords required.

For the naysayers, I opened mine tonight from about 75'. It took 2 tries; on the 2nd attempt I held the fob at shoulder level. Original and well worn fob, old battery, about 20 feet behind and maybe 75' from the left side of the truck. Eat your heart out. :D

I'll try again, when I tried to unzip them is when it asked for a password ??? mine used to work from 20 + feet thats why I'm looking for the antenna. I'm thinking something might of come lose on one of my Baja trips??

The old under your chin technique does work gotta tell you. When we bought my wifes Avalon, rep there told us about that, and I thought for sure he was kidding. But it about doubles my range for the remote.

Tried it today when no one was looking. Dang if it didn't really work! Now, who wants to explain why this works?

I dont think there is any mystery here ..... your body is full of fluid, fluid that conducts ...... not exactly sure how all that works, but it makes sense to me. Think about when you grab ahold of a TV or radio antenna, the reception gets better, I think you are indeed acting as a larger receptor ;) ...... unless ofcourse there are a bunch of Cruiser people out there with metal plates in their head, then my theory is complete crap and you can call Newbie on me ;)

I would be more inclined to believe the fields around our bodies provide the tuning increase vs. the passing of energy through our bodies (as that would take more power than we are discussing here).

Surface transduction my friend!

Question for you Fob Owners: (Since I didn't get a manual)

I know the top button locks/unlocks (from 1.2" max away from the truck) :D

What does the bottom button do?

My original fob only had one button! :flipoff2:

New fangled fob's I got from the man have two buttons. They can be programed for two different TOYOTA vehicles. I inquired about the second button being programmed for a Scion (my daughter's vehicle) and was told by the same man NO, only Toyota badged vehicles.

BTW - the new fobs do work from 10-20 feet! :bounce: :bounce2: :D

We're all going to the driver's door anyway, right?

Lazy ba$tards!

OK. So I'm not losing my mind then. THANKS!

The RS3000 units just wear out over time.

They are not official Toyota factory remotes, they are in the "dealer or port installed" category.

Reprogramming sometimes helps strengthen the signal, and there are 3 different remotes which are interchangeable.

According to Toyota, the 91-94 would have used the single button TVSS remote, and then the 95 would use the pear shaped 2 button TVSS remote. (Lexus used the 2 button TVSS for 96 and 97.) Then Toyota shows the black RS3000 (football) remote for 96 & 97 on the Land Cruiser.

There is a gray RS3000 remote which Toyota began using in 98 on some models, but you cannot use a gray remote on a the 97 and earlier receivers.

My first ones, new with the purchase in '94 were the single buttons on the left. Dan the man sold me the ones in the middle (in black) as replacments a couple of months ago.
