Im just geting tired of messin with this dam motor whats the newest vehicle I can grab a 22re out of and use in my truck I got 86 4unner

'95 was the last year in the US for the venerable 22RE. After that, it needed to be ODB-II, and Toyota never upgraded this engine for that. Then the 2RZ/3RZ was it's replacement.

I don't get your logic here...are you thinking a "newer" engine will have less miles?

A 22re is a 22re, regardless of year. Just get the best 22re you can find and go with it, if your intention is just to swap a running engine in.

X2...

Grab the while engine, engine computer, engine wiring harness, AFM, exhaust header, etc. while you are at it if you want a little better performance from the newer ones.

Right, but I think he wanted to know what his options where for the simplest swap. In other words, would a '95 22RE engine have the same motor mounts, electrical connections, etc or would that apply to only certain years.

A 1986 22re long block is the exact same as a 1995 22re long block.

If he takes a 22re block, regardless of year, and uses his 86 wiring harness, intake, accessories and exhaust. It is a direct swap.

I just don't get why he has his heart set on a 95 in particular...

That said, the intake (plenum+throttle body) off the later model is more efficient and a direct swap. Just swap over your electronics and you are good to go.
