X2...A 22re is a 22re, regardless of year. Just get the best 22re you can find and go with it, if your intention is just to swap a running engine in.
I don't get your logic here...are you thinking a "newer" engine will have less miles?

A 1986 22re long block is the exact same as a 1995 22re long block.
If he takes a 22re block, regardless of year, and uses his 86 wiring harness, intake, accessories and exhaust. It is a direct swap.
