I told you it's a conspiracy. They take away all the capable off road vehicles then they can shut the trails down because there won't be such a huge following anymore. It may take 30 years but their plan is in the works.

And when I say they I meen aliens. Lol
Everyone here has seen the true story, They Live, right.

I took the skids off and that seemed to be what the loud bags were but I will take it out and flex the old girls and see how it goes. Found a good thread on the fj forums and adjusted the parking break. Now I won't roll off the mountain, at least I hope not.

Well I took the skids off and went for a test drive up on rampart. I got rid of the loud bangs but I still had one little one for a while. That has been the problem most of the time. I will have a bang then I won't. Well I never had a bang for the whole ride back and I was beating on it pretty good. I stopped by my mechanics house and went over the ideas for my 4wd sensor that is starting to go bad again and had him look at the clunk noise I have. After about 10 minutes he found how I have a little bit of play in one of my bumper brackets. Smart guy. After getting home I looked it up and sure enough it's a recall and not only is there movement but apparently bangs on the frame and they make new bracket to replace the old ones. I will have to take a look and see how bad it is but quite a few people have actually sold the bumper back to warn for full price plus shipping. Not something I want to do but I also don't want to take off my 180lb bumper either. :bang:

Maybe. They had a sleeve that was too long I took out and cut and was able to get the part he was sure had movement tight. Now I will probably get a different noise. Ha. Either way as long as it isn't something that matters I don't much care of the noise. I just thought it had something to do with the suspension. At this rate I will never have time with the jeep. I also one day need to get some spacers on the skids welded rather then free floating. I have no idea why they wouldn't have come that way. The free floating spacers are making a gigantic pop from the skids. Just like if I hit a rock.

I tried texting Luke on my suspension but never heard back so I called slee. They said more droop. So I jacked her up and turned down my coil overs. As I was going through I noticed the whole shock can move. I don't know how I didn't see it before. It's how it's made and will do it the entire time. Makes sense seeing how I didn't here all the way down one of the trails since it was all down hill and the bumps were all the same so it got in its groove and didn't move then. I took video and will post later.

I was using the adjusting wrench but i could have turned it by hand. its got joints at the top and bottom to allow it to turn like that. needless to say i didn't do enough research when i got them. just gives me 2 more joints to go bad that i didn't need.

Rattle can from www.automotivetouchup.com. They are a bit nicer than auto part store cans. They have a vertical spray pattern like a gun. I bought primer, 2 cans of basecoat (2-tone truck), and clear coat. The baseocat is mixed to match the factory color, and they provide test cards to check the color. They will re-mix for free if it does not match. Pretty reasonable prices. I don't think this will end up looking perfect, but I'm looking forward to having a truck that looks good from ~10 ft again.

So I got some color on my truck repair this week. The top of the 2 colors matched great. However, I soon discovered that the bottom color, brown, did not match. On closer inspection, i found that the lower of my 2 tone paint colors was repainted by a PO in a different shade. some of the original color is left under the fender flare. Since I have no idea what the shade is, I am going to have to carry a fender flare in somewhere and get it matched. Can anyone recommend somewhere local that will mix custom rattle can touch up paint?

Well, as much as I wanted to pick up a front bumper for the 100, I was "forced" to make another purchase first. I noticed some wear on my front tires and knew it was due to the OME lift some of you helped me install a few months back. Toyota could only dial in the alignment so far due to the limitations of the stock UCA's.

So... I purchased some SPC UCA's today (the same ones Slee now sells with the OME lift as a package). They sell for around $560 (plus tax and shipping) from local/big venders, but found a smaller distributor that had a discount and free shipping available, so I ended up playing under $420 total.

Looks like we might need to have another "Help Travis Learn to Wrench" party sometime soon. :grinpimp:

Used 1971 wiring harness ordered...should be here on Wednesday...then comes the fun task of figuring out what everything goes to, what the differences are from 1970 to 1971...and making any modifications I need to for the GMC 292 set up. Priced out starter motors (GM's are cheap $50!) and I should be able to have it on the road in a couple weeks if everything goes smoothly!

:hmm: I was thinkin'.... might be nice to have a front bumper on while I redo the front end so that I only have to reset droop, recrank the tbars, get an alignment, etc. once. :grinpimp:

I installed a new front driveshaft today after breaking the last one. Went over everything for next weekends wheeling trip. Checked for lose bolts, made sure fluid levels are good etc. Looking forward to next weekend!

Picked this little gem up at work. 99 Neon R/T, 5 speed, 134,000. Working AC and cruise control. Broken lower ball joint, cv shaft ripped out of trans. Repair cost was too much for the owner to bear so I purchased the car from him for, lets just say, "very cheap." Well it ended up costing me $140 for a new lower control arm with a ball joint in it, the cv shaft is in perfect condition after popping the inner joint back together. Now I have a decent little runner car that can get good mileage and help me keep miles off my 80. And turn about $1200 profit on if i decide to sell it:grinpimp:
