Transmission is only four forward and one reverse. Transfer is where you get 2WD high range, 4WD high range and 4WD low range for the three times the five gears gears.

Could be either a H41 or H42. H41 has a lower first gear. H41 in first gear the input shaft has to turn around five times for the out put to turn once. H42 around three and half times. 2nd and 3rd gearing depends on if it's a H41 or H42. Both H41 and H42 are one to one in fourth gear. 8/80 tail shaft went from 16 spline to 19 for split transfer case.
