Thanks for all replies and comments...
So I ended up getting the Ironman suspension (heavy duty front and rear) for my FZJ73 last week and took it out this weekend. It FAR exceeded my expectations!!! We use an identical FZJ73 for racing and that one has an OME kit; however, I must say that the Ironman kit with the heavy duty shocks is, for now, a better ride... not by much, but still feels better. I'll post on mid-long term performance.

Alberto, I think you'll be better off buying the shocks/kit locally. There are sooo many variables, you won't wanna order the wrong kit... cuándo salimos?

Thanks again,

Felipe A.

Awesome Felipe, I have Iroman on my 80 and it also exceeded my expectations. I Love it. going on 2 years and not a single issue... flex is great, rides grat and on road is very stable.

well My 70 had OME for about 4 year... I use my car for daily ride and for rally race.. its a perfect suspention.. the shock absorber just last one race.. but everything else its perfect... the Iroman its good but a lite soft for my.. If I have to change my suspension probably goes with the ironman its cheeper and much softer than the OME.. By the way, I dont use my car for rally any more..

OME prices??

I have OME - medium on my 78 FJ 40 with extended spring shackles. I really dont have a lot to compare to besides stock, but I think the suspension is great. It really works well on high speed gravel roads and flexes well for general offroad. If you are trying to get maximum flex I wouldnt recommend the OME shocks. They are a bit short and may be the limiting factor for this suspension on a lot of rigs. Figure out your min/max length and go with other shocks.

who are the best current sources for OME for a BJ70 in the US/Canada? What are springs going for these days?

Chris

Ome For Fzj73

Hi Guys,

After instensive research I am inclined for OME.

Can anyone recommend a reliable dealer for OME in the USA that would be able to sell the full suspension kit for a 73 series. I know there is probably none that would have it in stock considering the model, but maybe I can order it through them. The closer to Florida the better.

Thanks in advance!

i bought my OME at www.geo4wdparts.com.. but then again any dealer can give you the 70 series specific. just triple check the parts and you are golden. Love my OME... a bit stiff at first since my rig is a light unit... but its great!

Albertom, did you end up buying just the shocks or did you go fr the whole suspension kit?

Whole suspension kit... real easy bolt on granted you have the right parts and use the + and 0's where they are supposed to go...

Well if you are sold the OME I understand, However if you are still open to others I sell Dobinsons Suspensions (made in Australia, not just sold out of OZ like OME). And I have several 7x series suspensions in stock in my warehouse and shop in San Diego CA.

i actually emailed dobinsons directly... their prices were cheaper and apparently their product is better but i just thought it was too much of a hastle to even think about importing it to colombia from australia!! too bad i didnt bump into your site before, i was really rooting for them.

maybe next ride..

I worked on a hzj73 with OME and it was nose diving badly, prolly the weight of winch and 6 cylinder motor.

Is there a option with the Dobinsons for bumpers and winches?

When I bought my Dobinsons from TJM they offered me a choice of HD and standard. I got the standard
My steel bullbar softened them up a little, not too much, but I would get the HD for a winch etc

We offer 2 different types for the 7x series a 7 leaf (regular one) front and an 8 leaf (60 to 100kg extra load) wich is good if you have a bullbar and winch on the front. Actual ride hight is the same.

hey,
I am looking to upgrade my suspension system for my KZJ70 and am interested in OME 2". At the minute I am running stock everything but the shocks are shot, covers rotted off.
I live and work on a farm in the UK and use it off road in that sense, but not trying to scale boulders or anything like that. I use it on road probably 60-70% of the time and tow trailers regularly.
What sort of a difference will I feel? Will the ride be a lot firmer? Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!!
Fred

Well after reading your posting I am now back to undecided....Have only heard good things about Dobinsons but…also that they are probably more expensive than OME right?, I will be contacting you for a quote on the HDs.

Alberto, mine is a FZJ73 built in Colombia and I am having trouble requesting the quote for the OME kit because I havent been able to identify the correct reference #s fr each part. Could you by any chance post the ref#s in the kit that you ordered?

What springs did you get for the rear? OME113 OR CS004R?
