Hi guys, I'm slowly getting around to fixing everything and doing a mild restoration on my FJ62. Im going for a stock looking truck. I replaced the rear speakers with pioneers awhile ago, neither the pioneer grills or the oem grills would fit under the oem metal outer grill. I have since lost the grills that came with the pioneers as well at the stock ones. I was wondering if anyone has found some decent 6 1/2 speakers that look good under the oem metal outer grill. Ideally a set that comes with a grill that fits under the oem outer one.
Thanks in advance

I used some MB Quart DK1-113 speakers, easy install and sound good.

Are those stock mounts? If so they are long gone from my 62! Would be interested in any how-tos on that setup. Clean.

Those are stock mounts. These are installed in my '86 FJ60, so I had to install an extra tee nut in the body shell for that lower bracket, you won't need to do that.

Anyone have the OEM part number of the mounts? I'd like to install those in my '87 FJ60.

Part #86209-90A00, same for both sides. The speaker box is 86151-90K01 and the outer grille is 86269-90K01. Brackets are NLA, boxes are pricey at $110.48 each, same with the outer grilles at $129.70 each. You should easily find these used here one MUD - check the Parting Out forum. I think cruiserjunktion may have some also.

I recently installed Rockford Fosgate Punch 6x9s in the rear of my 60. They work great for they money.

I looked at those pictures above. How is that lower end fastened the OEM way? I´m going to make my own OEM style brackets and wondering how to make that lower end.

I have the Polk audio db652 and use the stock grills. At first I thought I couldn’t use the grills but realized I just had to grind down the 4 tabs on the edge of the speaker frame and they fit perfectly:

Installed behind the stock grill. The speakers are pretty cheap, sound good and are marine rated which is good because my dog likes to swim and shake off on the ride home!

I just installed some Retrosound S-62’s this weekend. I didn’t have the stock grills but I think these look pretty good and unobtrusive. I had to drill some holes in the speaker frames to get them to mount up to the factory holes but it turned out good.
