You don't have to wait until 2014,the single headlight early models came out late 85,i have one,australia got the high roof models a few years before this also but they were fj's or hj's,no 12ht mtor until 85.
You have to be very careful when looking for one,very common in oz for the roof to be rusted out or on its way but there is good ones around,the JDM ones seem to be rust free.
I know a guy in our town that sold one about two weeks back for $5500,it was nice with only 250,000klms but had a little roof rust.

I just saw one of these sell on ebay a couple months ago for like $15,000 it was in texas. it had a terrible 80s paint job on it with a rainbow of color flavors on it.

This rig from NZ has the tall top but not the ambulance doors. Looks like a great ride - lots of $$. How hard to convert to LHD?

So...

I'm pulling this one out of the way back time machine. This original post from April 2006 was from my original account, which I got locked out of. I just registered a new account at the time because it didn't seem like a big deal back then. I would forget about this post. Faster forward to last week, I remembered having an original account. I found the account, and @woody helped me get sorted and restored, and I came across this post.

Nineteen years ago, I put it in writing that this was my dream rig. I didn't know anything about it, and back then, other than a few Aussies on the board, MUD had very little knowledge about non-US rigs. In March, I bought an 86 FJ62 high-roof GX out of Oman. Last month, it came out of paint and body, and I took it to Rory and Zach at @RocketCityCrzrs for a 2UZ heart transplant.

I'll post updates and photos as this progresses through re-power and resurrection. We're building the dream.
