Howdy!

I'll be dropping a 3FE into a 1974 Pig, along with 60 knuckles and discs for the front end.

I plan on keeping the drums on the rear for now.

What master cylinder do folks like to run when putting discs on the front of a drum brake Piggy?

Thanks!

I'm still using my original ('74) brake MC...drums rear, mini discs front...no problem.

run a prop valve and pull the residual valve from the front section for the master and you can run the old master. or upgrade and go with the 60 series booster/master/prop valve.

I would look for an FJ80 master. A bit more compact than the earlier cast iron ones, and the aluminum ones will last longer.

the drum brake master you have now has a 1" bore, most of the toyota disc masters are 3/4" - 7/8".

bigger equals more pedal effort required for same braking as a smaller master, but less pedal travel.

I had a 74 master on my cruiser with discs for a while, and it was okay. A little too much pedal effort for my liking but was in no way bad enough to feel like you were pulling the steering wheel off trying to brake quickly.

went to an FJ80 master and it made a difference, as the bore was slightly smaller. I liked it better.

with a prop valve you will be okay, even if you are running drums in the rear with a master meant for discs.
