Quite a difference in the core. I'd go with the one that has more surface area to dissipate heat, and it's clearly the TYC with thinner, longer rows.

I went with the 100% aluminum from Shepherdauto but its NLA now

Without a doubt, if you want plug and play Koyo C1917 three core.

I thought these were no longer available?? That would be awesome.....

I don't know currently. Use the exact #C1917. If not the guy there will point you in the right direction. Auto Cool Chattanooga TN...

I know it looks like a little podunk place, but they ship radiators all over the country every day. That is their real business.

I see Koyo C1917 on ebay but they're not price friendly.

I see vendors on eBay using the search tag it no one who actually has one.

I've perused this whole thread again, and I gather that all these radiators are for the 1FZ... Does anyone have a link/part# for a 3FE radiator? I've gotta replace mine ASAP.

I went a completely different route. I went with the Ron Davis Racing radiator ($900 :() and I am convinced that while I was going through my overheating hell (I'm at my absolute wits end- truck still overheating despite best efforts) that if I did not have this radiator installed to remove as much heat as it did, that I would have done some serious damage to my fresh motor rebuild.

Buddy of mine runs a speed shop and had a customer that was upset his Camaro was overheating on quarter miles, wasn't running as cool as it could. Put in a Ron Davis and the thing still had problems. Switched to an OEM rad from Chevy and it cooled off. Just food for thought, before someone considers a $900 radiator any kind of a cure all to fix problems.

EDIT: It's also worth mentioning that this has happened to him with customers before. He is of the opinion that Ron Davis rads aren't all they're cracked up to be.

I've been running one of those TYC's, bought it from rock auto for $110 (I think they're $114 right now) and the truck has been running okay with it.

Stayed in the 186-190° range while I went to get coffee yesterday at around 4pm, hottest part of our day. It did get up to 202° while sitting at a very long stop light, but came back down when I started moving again.

Many of my friends are telling me that their outside garden thermometers and car temp readers were at 118-121° yesterday, so I guess I should be happy with the cheap Chinese crap?

At that price they're practically disposable, I could ditch them every few years and just buy a new one, not worry about sediment, etc.

Lots and lots of Googling has told me that CSF2709 should be the fit for 91-92, but $300 is a little more than I'd like. If I can't find anything cheaper that seems to hold up well I'll just have to bite that bullet.

If I had a standard radiator while I was going through my issues I'd be either rebuilding again or driving a 100.

Glad this thread came up. When I was out this morning my temps got to 212 in under 10 miles. With 55mph speed limit and 3 street lights. It was about 115 out. Im looking for a new rad and was looking at a c1917 but can't find one. Any leads on a non-counterfit koyo?

So certain you are, impossible to tell it is.

EDIT: That made me feel like Yoda or some s***!

I might be on the hunt for a radiator for my '91. Please post up if you find something that works.
