The 2 hidden bolts behind the grill. I tried with 1/4" drive swivel and couldn't get it. Took an extra 15 minutes maybe. I guess every rig is different but these bolts were BEHIND the corner of the headlights and it absolutely wasn't happening.

Odd, others have complained about those two bolts but I didn't seem to have an issue with those at all. :meh:

I guess the nice thing with coolant leaks is that it flushes itself once a year but I've had enough with the overheating. I'm gonna try that Amazon TYC rad a try.

Don't do that one. Get the Koyo I posted an ebay link to for $175 delivered. Same price as the TYC brand but much better!

Must've been luck for us.

OEM lasted for 21yrs so I'm hoping this one would last another 20yrs.

Link wouldn't work for me.

I'm green. Red is not only overrated & hard to get in a pinch but overpriced as well!
I've been on the green program too. What brand/version have you been using? I've been using Peak the last couple of times. I "think" it has the non gasket eating formula.

Prestone. It 'appears' to be the best & available around the world.

I've stuck with red. Its what my truck came with and I will NOT change the color just to save a few bucks. I can get the toyota red from any myriad of source and if there is ever an emergency then I have no qualms running 100% distilled until I can find an opportunity to change out. I'm in SoCal so no harm of ice for me :P

You don't travel outside of Commifornia? What if you venture north, you bust a hose/radiator cap, it's 20* outside & it's a Saturday evening on a holiday weekend? I'm a 'worst case scenario' type person. I try to travel as much as possible so I need a readily available option. YMMV.

Of course. I travel to Canada on occasion and everywhere in the West. Again, if I blow my hose(s) for any reason I not only have spares but I have repair tape. I also carry 10gallons of water at ALL times. The water I carry is not distilled but if I need to...no problem. Hell I'll piss in my radiator if so needed in an emergency. But we are just talking emergencies. I can get distilled water from ANY supermarket and most gas stations. No worries there.

Your worries should be cold temps w/only water in the system. Of course you could call it quits, end your trip due to water & head south but what fun is that?

And it would be my worry...if its very cold temps...AND I was only running straight water...assuming I had a catastrophic coolant leak. Even then there will still be enough coolant in the block, hoses and heater cores to give me at least a 90/10 mix.

You're correct. There'd still be a significant amount of the prior mix. Just hope it's an easy fix that doesn't continue to leak (ie. cracked/leaking radiator cap, heater core, etc.) Yes, I overthink things!

Nothing wrong with overthinking. I've been accused of worse.

So really, the question should be should TnS be changed to Red camp and Green camp?

1918 Koyorad - Radiator

If it doesn't work then:
go to ebay
search 1918 koyorad
seller is CARiD

I chimed in earlier in this thread due to some degree of being irritated with failing radiators; sorry OP....

But I can say this; I bought my Koyo 1918 from CARiD. Very impressed with the support thus far. while on the first phone call within 7 minutes this was the summary

Rma started but refused to cease in exceeding my expectations by asking me to go out to the truck and send him pics as we spoke. He simultaneously called the Koyo/tyc (whomever) and confirmed their RMA for him based on my pics. He worked both lines live and was super nice. We will see how the return and replacement measure up.

Completed the Koyorad install earlier today, so thanks again for the heads up on that radiator and the other feedback. Only struggle was getting access to the two nuts that hold the radiator on as mentioned by others. Even after taking the front lights out there's just isn't enough clearance by the condenser frame to get a socket on deez nuts. Other than that everything went well.
