Just purchased a FJ55 and wondering what company/type of insurance you all use and how much are you paying? This will be a second/weekend driver so hoping to get some type of collector / 2nd vehicle rate but haven't priced this out before. Will start making some calls but wanted to check in with this crew first for some ideas.Pig is being shipped here but once I get it I'll post pics and officially join the club. Thanks!

Unless it's a pristine museum piece stay away from "collector's".

2nd vehicle, minimal mileage per year. That's all they need to know.

I'm curious about insuring my pig also. I currently have it insured as a second vehicle, minimum insurance required by law on our regular 'ol insurance...

I've thought about insuring my vehicle for its appraised value as opposed to blue book. I figure if I'm in an accident now I'd be screwed.

Anyone out there have any thoughts on this? Or is everyone insured for just the minimum also?! :)

I got minimal only, but that's a life standard for me. with how well insurance likes to actually pay out, I figure it's a gamble to spend alot of money for collision damage. I justify my viewpoint by telling myself they will only find a way to back out of payment if it ever comes time to pay the piper. And then they're gunna want you to have their guys do the repairs-NO THANKS! again; it's what i have to tell myself:meh:

I am through Esurance at ~$60 month for minimal right now.

I'm going to see about getting an agreed upon value policy because if they go by "blue" book, they are going to be a digit short(~$2k vs more appropriate ~$20k especially as things finish out)

Exactly. Let us know what you get for a quote if you don't mind... I'm probably going to do the same with my pig. I just want to avoid getting totally screwed in the case of an accident. I suppose I rather pay to get screwed all along- just in case. :)

I use Allstate and they basically told me I was SOL. They offered to insure my pig through Hemmings, but basically because its a daily driver Hemmings won't insure it. I still have the minimum insurance required by law...

... but if I get in an accident I won't get anything. Doesn't really work for me. I am still interested in insuring my pig for a more fair/accurate market value. Anybody else have any luck with this?!

Actually what is funny is that the high retail NADA value for a '71 Land Cruiser is over $20k. I used it when I insured mine.

Ryan- I brought this to my agents attention and again they basically said 'no way' to me. This is bothering me and I'd like to get my pig insured with a company that understands and recognizes its value. I'm willing to pay, but I want better coverage. Which insurance provider are you using?

State farm ---second vehicle with uninsured motorist, roadside assistance, $100 deductible --- $200 for six months
