well, the bumper i started for brokenparts wasn't gonna fit his rig (i'll get you another going zach)
so, since i've been running around for the last 6 months without a bumper and had 8 hours to kill today ;)
still not done but only have some supports to put in. i'll get to that in a week or two.......or never

To be honest, I don't like it :whoops:

Dont want to alarm you but it looks like you might have a small dent in your 1/4 pannel

I like it, simple and functional. It would be nice if it fit closer at the back, the pictures make it look like it sticks out a lot.

im currious why it wont fit zachs truck?

I want one...PM me a price if you have any ideas! haha looks good Jim!

Hey i see your welder under the table in one of the pics. Are you just running flux core wire? From the looks of your welds and the fact that i don't see a cylinder any were around the welder. Just curious.

i like it by the way simple and effective, just what you need in a trail truck.

2badfj's- do you manually bend your tube or do you have a machine? i just bought a Curvatrici Angle Bender for my work. It's nice but i never realized bending exact radii is harder than you think! I'd say it's more of an art than a process. Looks tough, i like it!

Q:im currious why it wont fit zachs truck?

i had all his specs and layed them out on the floor.
his 1/4s are cut with a 1" body lift.
it was the body lift part that i got wrong:frown:
and one corner was over-bent just enough to tell. i can take more pics that show this.
this was not good enough to sell AFAIC.

Q: Do you have a rear shot of it?

i'll get it today

i've learned to weld pretty well with flux so i stick with it.

that was the whole idea.

the main bar i bent/pulled by hand which wasn't easy and probably one reason for the over-bent corner.
everything else was bent with a hydro bender i'm buying :bounce:

when hand bending you are gonna want to let the tube relax in the bender (loosen it up but don't remove the tube yet) check your angle and re-bend if nessasary.
if you over-bend just a bit you can sometimes get it to relax backby a couple different ways (slam the corner on the ground or i even been able to wedge one end of the tube under my axle and pull back on the tube)

:D

I'd say you were just goofing with the new hydraulic bender. 84Cruiser showed it to me Friday. Looks like you'll have to string an air hose across the alley or get a bigger compressor.

That'll work nicely for my quarter protectors!

are you going to plate over the rocker for a skid plate ???? look cool but also look like you will still hit your rock without the plate...I need to add upper bars to mine but I'm going over the sidemarker light

you got it steve!

i hadn't planned on it  i do have a sheet of 3/16 plate in my garage i could use.
and actually, the rear corner of the rocker is the only part that is below the tube.

jim

Will the tailgate still drop down on your rig. I realize you buit it for a rig with a 1" body lift but it looks like there is going to be a big dent in your tailgate the first time you open it.

Looking at it yesterday I thought the same thing. Jim dropped the gate and showed me that it doesn't hit the tailgate. It's pretty cool bumper IMHO.

come on D' really.
i'm not that stupid
the back tube was welded on after the main bar was bolted up to the frame.
we set it with the tailgate down. perfect fit :D with a tad room to spare ;)

it does stick out, but it's mainly the rear hoop.
the mount is the same one i use on my other bumper.
this tube bumper has a better departure angle than my other one. :D
