I installed my new plate, courtesy of @ToyotaMatt Thanks again Matt!

Then I put my new Exped Duo 10 mattress in the RTT and threw the Kelty double wide on top of it. This should be very comfortable.

Well? did it work? Hope not. We need you to do a thread on fixing it correctly. Detailed as usual with the appropriate part #s.

Oh, it worked....almost too well. Felt like I turned the 40 into a convection oven and had to turn the blower off before I got to work. Note, I did replace the old rusted Heater Valve this year.

Nice job as usual @GA Architect! I drove my FJ40 during a S-76 contract in Minneapolis-St Paul in the winter (-30*) and the heater kept me toasty. I used a battery heater and an oil pan heater but the biggest problem was water in the fuel freezing up occasionally.

You are an inspiration to us all for the continuing improvements you make. Thanks!

I installed weatherstripping on the front doors and rear hatch in middle of night last night. Had these parts for months and planned to install on my ‘67, but with that truck firmly in ‘project’ status :

I decided it was about time I managed the wind and water intrusion better on my ‘68.

With weatherstripping in place, rattles were hushed! I decided to use the ‘68 for a business trip from Austin to Houston.
The cool morning ahead of me, I set out for Houston at 7:30 am, ensuring plenty of time for my 11:00 meeting. Then this happened:

Truck ran flawlessly in stop and go with no heat issues.
Those in Texas know you have to stop at bucees. Today was no exception.

Ran no more than 65 the whole way via gps. I got a speedy 40!

Took my new little girl for her first walk in the desert off leash. She did real good stayed close and keep checking on me to make sure I was still in site.

My shorthair ranges out in the woods but will circle back to check in just about the time I think he's chasing a deer or found a porky. When he was young I'd hide behind a tree or in tall brash and watch him search for me. Ed

Where did you pick it up at?
Oregon. We drove 2199.2 miles from Thursday evening to yesterday. Would have been home on Sunday but I-80 was closed. A dirt road and 2 snow packed passes later, we made it home yesterday.

It's been an ongoing small project for the last few weeks. Putting new seatbelts in to replace the lap belts that are in the front. Started with making a set of gussets to fit the roll bar.

Then cut steel and welded in the parts. Put a layer of paint on. Today, I will bolt in a set of military HMMWV (H1) seatbelts. Should be much better and will not have to be taken out when the top comes off.
