Anyone have recommendations on a shovel mount for my Gamiviti roof rack? Tim at Gamiviti was kind enough to send me a set of quick fist clamps that I mounted to the gussets, but IMO there's just too much flex in those clamps when bumping down the road, and I have zero confidence they would hold up and keep my shovel from turning into a missile in any sort of accident above walking speed.

I was looking at the Smittybilt ones but I suspect I'll have to figure out some other sort of way to mount those to my rack. Sturdy is important. Locking really isn't... if someone wants my $20 shovel that bad they can steal it.

I like (and use) what FourTreks offers - Modular Shovel Mount

Pick your mount according to your roof rack and tube diameter - easy as pie!

The actual shovel mount looks similar to the quickfist. How tightly does it hold the shovel?
Very snug, but it does have a little wiggle under force - However, I can shake the whole truck by just grabbing the shovel handle and have not been concerned about the rubber retention straps failing. It's been on several 80mph trips to trail heads, and I've never once worried about it.

That being said, I haven't used quickfist or smittybilt and can't compare. But fourtreks has positive reviews:

Better late than never - Fathers Day weekend consisted of a father/daughter camping trip in the mountains above Boulder. First outting with the new (to me) Land Cruiser. Rented a canoe, headed up Forest Road 68J, and spent the weekend making campfires, fishing for trout, and hiking. The best of times!

It's really nice to see a canoe, not many people are interested in them; it seems as if everybody wants kayaks.....

Please add bow and stern lines. If one of your main straps comes loose or if you are in a head on collision, the boat will become a deadly projectile into whomever or whatever is in front of you. If you were not aware of this, it is fine, it is a learning process. But if the rental place told you and you ignored their advice ..... not so fine! If they didn't even mention it, then that is just plain bad on their part.

The bow lines especially are a PITA, they are a visual distraction while driving. I use 1/4 inch black nylon rope and it is not nearly as bad as lighter colored rope or straps, which can almost fluoresce in bright sunlight.

I ordered a set of these off eBay.
shovel mount and axe mounting bracket set | eBay

Hope they are decent quality. The price was right.
I'll post up first impressions when they show up next week.

Breck prep in full swing.
Fridge slide, drawer, bump stops up front, and switched out the 2722 springs for 2721. (And of course put them on the wrong sides) :bang:

Curious what made you switch to a 2721. I'm going to a lower spring rate as well from a 2723 soon.

22 to 21? I like my 22s.

Been reading a couple different threads here about the characteristics of the 21s. They are a progressive rate spring.
I believe @Taco2Cruiser brought up the variable rate.
Even being on the wrong sides, they are smoother on the road. Nothing life changing, just a slight add in plushness. I'm hoping it is more noticeable in the 2nd row where the mini me's ride.

Huh....I'm just installing 2722's now- I hope my little ones won't get jostled too much!

Changed the engine oil using TRD filter and Mobil 1 and did the Venza filter cap assembly upgrade.

Changed front, center and rear diff fluids with Mobil 1 Synthetic using @MScruiser videos as a very handy reference! Thanks!!

Drove back non-stop from Slee's to Houston..... and then cleaned the rig. LOVE the new rear bumper ... it's not cheap but it's really well thought out...... from the cam latches to the lighting to the adjustable height...

Ben was great and knocked it out ahead of what I expected... so I got home ahead of schdule and got the rig cleaned up today...

They also sorted out my ARB compressor and locker switches with a custom solution that I need to get pics of..... it's perfect. single button for the compressor, and the old school rotary for the lockers....

That bumper leaves me speechless so I'm just going to have to leave you with a 'like' for now.

side pic and the super cool switch panel SLEE created...... this is exactly why I spend so much with these guys... they're constanting solving the issues with great products.... when I arrived the 3 ARb switches were a junk show as they ddn't fit and hit each other....

problem solved.

@slee now if only there was a really good front bumper....... no, really......

Just added a couple of little things:
a new set of Nitto Exo Grappers 285/70R-18 (~34")
4.88 Yukon gears
SPC UCAs
Front and Rear ARB Air Lockers
Twin ARB Compressor
ARB Diff Breather
Finally finished my Switch Pros install
and added a pair of Front Runner LED cubes to the back of the roof rack.

You know the usual...

Now, all have to do is complete the 500 mile gear break in before I leave for Breckenridge on Friday
