I know it is stupid, but I think it is funny.

I am not really a sticker person, but I put them on when I go on roadtrips, add them to the rear window during the trip, take a pic and remove once I am home. I head out tomorrow from Austin on my way to Maine.

I saw these on Etsy and made me chuckle.

Found a huge chipmunk nest on top of the cabin air filter. I think it was built in the last few days as there was nothing there a week ago. Spent about an hour and a half cleaning it all out and cleaning the K&N filter. Put it all back together and got the idea to put a couple of sticky traps in the engine bay. I went back a couple of hours later just to check and sure 'nuf, a chipmunk. I then heard something running around inside the dash so I pulled off the filter access door and there was another chipmunk running around on the cabin air filter. I chased it out and it ran under the driver's seat. I set a couple of traps in the front floor and got the great idea of putting a sticky trap on top of the cabin filter since that is where they were congregating. I did that because there is not enough room to put a regular trap. Checked it after another hour and the sticky trap was gone! All I can figure is the chipmunk went back there and got stuck on the trap and managed to pull itself up into the intake system where I can't get to it. It is blocked by the air dam.
Great. What to do now?
Sometimes, I amaze myself at just how E'ffing stupid I can be. Hey, I'll just put a sticky trap in there and that'll show the little bastard. What can go wrong?
I am going out of town in the LC Friday morning. I am also wondering where all the grey fluffy stuff came from.
We have had a bumper crop of chipmunks up here this year.

You forgot Starbucks. The holy grail of 200 series decals.

I won’t even make a joke about your situation, it just doesn’t seem right.

I hope for your sake there’s not a soon to be dead and inaccessible chipmunk behind your dash.

Ah, go ahead and joke, I deserve it. Besides, it is rather comical. When you think you have a brilliant idea and then it goes horribly wrong, what else can you do but laugh?

On a serious note, I did pull enough of the dash apart to get my bore scope up in there to take a look. You would think that Toyota would have a simple duct going from the air box to the cowl vents. But NOOOOOOOO! It looks like the catacombs of Rome up in there. I was able to squeeze the scope behind the air dam to take a look. It is full of braces, brackets, pipes, wires with nooks and crannies going everywhere. I jammed the scope in and around everywhere I could get it and saw no sign of the 'munk and/or trap. I managed to get the scope far enough to see the cowl inlets. The trap is a hard plastic tray 3X5 inches and about a quarter inch thick. I just don't see how a stuck 'munk with the trap could have gotten very far. It seems as if the critter with the trap would have gotten caught on something. But neither hide nor hair was seen. Lots of poop though. Nothing I can do about that. Unless I am missing something, I don't see how it is much of a fresh air intake either. Maybe with the dam in re-cerc position, it blocks the actual duct from being accessed with the scope. But then again, I did see the cowl inlets. Makes no sense to me. Maybe the stupid 'munk got out somehow. I hope. I am also wondering with the air dam in fresh air position, how the hell did they get in in the first place. The cowl vents are intact, with screens. When I get back in town, I will do more investigating with the scope. I think I will try with the dam in fresh air position and see how that works. Fortunately, there is enough give in the gasket to squeeze the scope through. It's about the diameter of a pencil. Heading out at 5 AM tomorrow. Son's birthday.

This week, I installed dash cam(eras). Wolfbox G900 TriPro. I’m not thrilled with the placement of the rear camera. It was a beating getting it to that point on the interior and their really isn’t an easy place to mount it on the upper/lower tailgate. Also there is no easy way to connect the reverse line so it switches to reverse mode. Either way in combination with the factory backup camera it works fine. I used the OBDII connector for power and so far all is working great. Getting cables into the headliner is a workout. Nothing on this vehicle wants to give any room.

We have had a bumper crop of chipmunks up here this year.
On mine the fluffy stuff was inner fender liner. I pulled that yesterday to find just a small amount left on the liner from what should have been a 32x8 pad of it. It’s sound deadening so I replaced it with dynamat and hood liner. I’m going to screen every opening to keep the buggers out.

Come on where’s you sense of adventure.

One of the lights on the bumper was flickering because of water intrusion. Another also has some condensation but working okay.

I thought OK can be too hard to take the bumper off and swap out one of the lights.. well the knuckleheads who installed this decided to cut off all the connectors and solder them all together.
Also, the replacement lights I got are the sport ones not the pro that’s currently installed… so I can’t just replace one side either.

Now I gotta figure out how to make a four to one harness..t

Took it out exploring. Went to West Virginia and did some dispersed camping on Canaan loop. Storm the night before and earlier in the day. Part way in came across a huge limb blocking the trail. Didn’t bring chainsaw. Used winch and snatchblock to pull off trail. Remembered I had the Silky Katanaboy in back and used it to cut the branches. That saw is sharp.

The end is near Blackwater Falls.

The Silky Katanaboy is a must. Mine never leaves the LC. It has come in handy several times clearing fallen trees. It can cut almost as fast as a small chainsaw. I also carry a small Gränsfors Bruk hand ax.

Silky’s good kit! I can’t remember which one I have, but it’s not as big as the katana boy I'm sure. Nice work on clearing the trail with what you had on hand!

Finally found a place to get the sea sucker jerrycans and hardware that would ship to AK and not make me subsidize UPS or FedEx. Pics will be posted of course as soon as I receive them. Summit Racing is the place.

Husky mats, Sensor lift. It was a big day!

Did my rear upper and lower control arms and realize that after 140k miles, the old ones still seem fine. The sway bar end link cushions were a little flat, but the rubber seemed fine.
