Someone tagged the bumper and little of the fender while it was parked. Ins will take care of the fender and paint and then will get paid out on the value of the bumper and paint. Benc will be receiving another order soon! Other mods to come after as well...
It came from a company called Rock Slide engineering. Not sure at this point I would recommend the product. I thought it would be raw stainless or aluminum but its painted black (not a big deal)
On their website it shows 2 pins that keep it tightly closed when not in use. Mine didn't come with those (only realized this yesterday) so I'm using a bungee for now. Ive contacted them, hopefully they can send some replacement parts.
Although a clever idea, the rivets on the hinge aren't the best quality. All these things can either be fixed or overlooked, but thought I should mention it.
Another option might be a frontrunner outfitters table
Last week I got the dreaded ABS/BRAKE lights and alarm. I had AAA haul it home. Used the jumper wire to access the ABS codes and retrieved a 56. Which is a High pressure switch, low pressure switch accumulator, booster pump. My pump had been noisy for a while, especially when it was cold. It was probably just the pump, but I found a complete master cylinder with booster pump on EBay for $805 shipped with a$300 core charge. So, I went ahead and got it. A buddy helped me swap it out. 2 hours including test drive and bleeding. Everything seems to be working as it should.
In the process of bleeding the brakes with the key on, my 33 month old Interstate 24F battery died. I’ve got it on the battery charger now and will be going to get it checked and perhaps replace it.
Mounted my antenna with the adjustable mount from firestik (painted it black). Not totally satisfied, its a little flimsy.. But will work until I have the money for a rear bumper.
Oh God! I'll follow that build thread closely! Very VERY curious how this pans out. This has been on my wish list for a while. Just need to replenish the budget
Love how spotless and shiny you have everything while doing the conversion. I think a lot of members are waiting to see how this works out in the real world. Thanks for the updates as you go......
My brother in law (who is a carpenter) and I spent an evening making this. Drew lots of inspiration from all the storage threads here.
Still need to anchor it down. It sits a couple inches higher than the seats but I wanted the front runner boxes to fit with the high lids.
Used 3/4 all the way around except for .5 on the bottom. I would have much preferred the KISS drawers but I need something I can take in/out with relative ease. This goes in in like 10 seconds
Also recently got two MegaMat 10s to put on here, the wife and I used them last week in our camper and am so glad I got them. Highly recommended. I'll be sleeping back here for 10+ days on my HIH adventure.
Also installed the following leading up to the camping trip:
New OEM rear shocks - Used sawzall on the right one, managed to get left off with 22mm adjustable gear wrench.
OME 865 Springs
Air Lift 100 - towed with them inflated to 30 psi, added about .5 lift on top of the OMEs. Even handled decent on some mild forest roads.
Wire relay for towing harness (which needs hard-wired into 12v line to work properly)
Given my worn out stock (original probably) springs and shocks this was a massive improvement. I had to tilt my seat back a bit so I didn't feel like I was being ejected.
