The problem with the air vent mount is three fold (from personal experience):

1. It blocks the air from the vent. In the summer I found this annoying when I was trying to cool down and my rear passengers need that air to travel back there (no rear air)

2. In the winter when blasting heat, I've actually overheated my iPhone and had it shut down on me.

3. When I'm using my iPhone on speaker while driving, the person on the other end of the line can't hear me because of the wind noise going over the iPhone from the vent airflow. A few annoying conversations later and I changed mounting systems.

I must say that with the tape deck mount there is something very satisfying about taking something that was obsolete and making use of it , IE the tape deck...

Tell me more about this place please, looks awesome and is a couple hours from me. What do I need in order to drive on sand like that?

View attachment 1455342 View attachment 1455343 Finally installed sliders and got my dissent bumper painted and reinstalled getting everything ready for expo west next week.
Which sliders? Like them so far?

Yesterday, I replaced the mud flaps with land cruiser Phil's delete plates.

Sliders, DVD player delete, and replacing the two ugly light bars on the front, heater tees, and tranny flush are on my short list.

Good to know. Havnt had any of those issues yet. winters are pretty mild here in VA. for 6 bucks it's the best mount I have used in any vehicle by far.

I actually built the sliders myself. Nice simple effective design IMHO. Mud flap deletes are awesome too.... put those on a couple days ago too.

Yes, a few NC guys on mud. Been here since ih8mud opened for business. ;<)
Basically bought mine for Ocracoke--glad to see another North Carolinian!
There's more here than you realize....

Island beach is at the southern most part of seaside, yup where mtv jersey shore was filmed, there's a couple sections you can drive on. Your supposed to be actively fishing but people go and hang out, build fires. There's a bunch of rules online and some of the fishermen can be pretty territorial but for the most part it's pretty relaxed. $195 for a year pass or $75 for a 3 day. Oh then there brigantine beach, that very relaxed more of a party beach. Not sure how much a pass is there.

That looks very nice and clean! I love it, did you have a thread on how you did it? I'm in D.C. Any chance you're close by and can fabricate me one? I'd pay of course.
Thanks... I'm down in Las Vegas.... no thread, just a wild hair up my a$$, a few pointers from some awesome guys here and not wanting to shell out $600+. As much as I'd like to build some budget sliders up for people, I'm not really set up to be building really anything more than what I do for my self even at that is questionable. While I did cut and weld it all myself I used a buddies machine to weld it all up. I rent where I'm at and try to keep the tools I own to a minimum until I move to a more steady place.

What is the slider bolted to? The frame? Do you have any pics of the sliders before you mounted them? trying to get an idea, i can weld, not well, but i can weld, as far as how it holds up, we'll see lol.

That's awesome work, i wont' be wheeling anything crazy so i don't need the heavy duty sliders, i need it as a step, and for aesthetic reasons, one last question, where can i buy those pipes/conduits?
Thanks...I went to metal supermarkets but any metal supply house has it. Metal supermarkets is a bit pricey

Added Power Stop front rotors and brake pads. Also did the big pre summier cleanup before the Texas heat crushes my will......

Next up, front bumper and IPF lights...
