M1 is not fully seated. Push it a little harder.
Yep, I knew you would see that! I'll push harder. I had to buy some longer screws to try and pull it together more. Let me see what I can do this weekend!

Replaced the parking brake shoes and innards (especially those cruddy bell cranks). Changed the oil and finally remembered to take that mid-stream sample for analysis. Fitted one of those oil quick release valve gizmos. We will see if it leaks. If it doesn’t it will make oil changes a lot more tidy.

Cleaned the carpet and seat belts. It started raining again so you will see some raindrops in one picture.

I want to eventually replace the carpet with a milk chocolate brown that doesn't show mud like the off-white carpet that it has now. I've been slowly getting the interior into shape. I guess I should be satisfied with a rig that is strictly intended for off-road use.

Brace yourself.

Before. Both driver and passenger sides looked like this.

After cleaning with the Tornado and a few raindrops for spots.

The Tornado tool is slow on carpet but works like magic on seat belts. I used some spring-loaded clamps to keep the seat belts from retracting until cleaned and dried.

The carpet area after cleaning. I discovered that ammonia (1:4) with water works well to release dirt from the carpet. Rinsing took some creativity. I used a portable Rug Doctor-like device to extract out the remaining water from the rinse.

This off-white carpet is going to be way too high maintenance for an off-road vehicle.

Finished installing a replacement LCD and the GROM vLine in the LX. Took a few tries to get the ribbon cable seated behind the LCD panel. BT audio quality is awesome with the GROM. Just have to figure out how to get the phone calls to go through this unit and also get some more apps installed.

All in the last week:

1. New WeatherTec front and second row matts
2. Running board delete
3. Installed new bank 1 O2 sensor 1
4. Post purchase checkup with my mechanic who points out the following:
- seeping/leaking front diff
- seeping/leaking transfer case
- cracks in top radiator tank
- front brake pads are low
- tires are due for replacement
- automatic antenna keeps grinding away after complete retraction upon start up if the radio is off and shutdown if the radio is on (I have seen a thread about fixing this here by modifying the controlling circuit board, but I may opt for the static short rubber antenna conversion since I have no experience with altering electrical stuff. )
5. New rubber upgrade

Old rear control arms bushings were pretty much shot! New OEM ones are shiny!

I removed the factory roof rack and Yakima basket and installed a Front Runner Slimline II. The instruction said something like 90 minutes. I did it by myself and it took a lot longer. It is very difficult to move to line it up on square on the mounts. It won’t slide around to adjust even with the nuts lose so I had to try and get them in the right place and lock one down and push and pull to try and get it square on the truck. Another surprise was the mounts are specific to the 100 but don’t use all the available bolts on the roof and have some unused holes that are supposed to sit on the drip rail unbolted. There would have been some areas of the drip rail with cutouts in the end so I just took them off completely.

Like many, my mid-section plastic skid plate / belly pan tabs broke off, it was dangling and had it off for a while. I have TJM steel version on my other LC but for my DD, didn’t want all the weight and added cost.

So, I took some leftover aluminum plates I had around the garage and created a support bracket. Just traced the original tab and left extra metal hanging so it can support the rest of the skid plate. Had to also bend couple times to get the correct steps like the original plastic tabs.

Bought 2 sets of bolt, washer and nut from HD to attach the new brackets to the plastic skid plate. Painted it black. Cost about $4 in all.

Not perfect but it’s functional and does the job so far. Basically, the plastic skid plate is sitting and resting on the aluminum bracket/plate. Not taking this LC off-road so it’s all good. Took about 1 hour total to cut, bend, drill some holes and install.
