Drove from NM to Austin to pickup new headlights and a cheap camper shell while I wait on my Alibaba camper shell.

Deer hunting in North Maine Woods. No deer, and almost non-existent buck signs, unlike in Boston suburbs, where these creatures ravage wife's vegetable beds. Lots of good moose signs, though. I could even take one if waited till sunset, but didn't have any luck with moose lottery this year. Thinking of trying shotgunning a deer in MA this year.

Anyways, it was nice to spend 3 days in the woods and bogs by myself. Light offroading, too, even involving 4LO, but just to check that it still works. It is also very relieving knowing that the truck will always start and nothing bad can happen to it that could keep me stranded where a flat bed is not an option.

Alright everyone, do I order an Auburn limited slip for the rear or go all out and do ARB lockers front and rear?

Since I’m regearing I figured I’d add something to assist in traction and strength while they’re open.
Why not Eaton e-lockers? No compressor, no vacuum tubes.

Talking with a lot of people and most say they’re not as strong, they release the lock if you go in reverse, more expensive.

Plus adding onboard air now gives me no excuse to lower tire psi since I would have the ability to inflate after a trail run.

I think I’m going to go front/rear arb lockers. Better warranty too.

ARBs have quite a reputation for air leaks inside the diff. I've helped / watched a guy pull his 3rd member apart in the middle of the forest trying to fix leaks - Personally I'd only consider an e-locker.

Looks like there’s no perfect locker. The Eaton e locker has weak teeth when engaged and prone to damage. Very difficult decision.

Unfortunately, I question ARBs reliability in my wheeling conditions: I want a locker for snow and single digit to negative temps. So much cool stuff designed and built in south is unusable when beer cans start to burst. As an example, I could not use my Hi-Lift, because polyurethane handle clamp shrunk and was impossible to remove. Had to take a knife and cut it. Another example is ARB awning pictured above. It was low 30s, and I was not able to zip lock it, because the shell shrunk. Had to wait a couple of hours for sun to heat it up. Marmot tent is hard to pitch in frost - compare it to Swedish Hilleberg. Heck, this all happens even to cars: Toyota doors freeze every morning in winter, Volvo's ones are like butter :) Have to live all your life in north to design and build things for north.

For my use case I can't add any rubber and expect it to be reliable. So, perhaps Eaton. Also snow is less demanding for diff clamping force than rock crawling.

Or I just leave Tundra stock reliable and use winch more often ;) I age and loose interest in extreme winter camping.

Have you experienced the locker disengaging when put in reverse?
The times I have used them i have not had that happened. Could be in an extreme condition but......if disengaged, not the end of the world, just re-engage🤷. Folks in Aussie and S. America are extreme users of their LC. Forums and YT would be blowing up if this is a common issue. We hear and seen more airlines from ARB having issues from being stretched, popped-off to ripping off on actusl 4x4 trails like Prichette or Rubicon than an E-locker dis-engaging.
You're over thinking it, doubt for what we do either an ARB or an E-locker will be just fine. Its not like our rigs are buggies.

You're probably right. For what I'm going to be doing, either one will work.

It's all comes down to $$.
For me it the less moving parts that could go wrong (ARB compressor, airline, location of compressor.....)
E-locker only the electronics but there are as many ARBs as to Elockers.😎
