What did you do with your truck this week? (6 Viewers)

Wheeled at Beasley. Limped an 80 Series off the trail that blew a radiator and fixed a blown rear air bag on a Discovery 2 with 2 2x4's, paracord, Gorilla tape, and two medium duty ratchet straps. It worked really well, except every bump I hit driving the truck out felt like someone pounding on my back. 2x4's don't flex very well. I'll get some pics and post them up.

why were you the one driving it out?

[STRIKE]I am 1/4 of the way done with better brakes :)[/STRIKE]

Front done, plus tie rod replaced with stock (the hybrid I was using thanks to Rick's FJ spare and my trail damage was a full inch shorter than it needed to be...whoopsie.

Now to the back once I finish work!

Finished....sheered two wheel studs in the rear :(

There was a pretty steep and slightly slick climb to get out. The Discovery had open diffs and a now non-functioning rear suspension. If the Rover didn't make it over one of the huge water breaks then it would either have to had backed down (not fun and something I would not want to do) or winch out which would have taken forever. You also had to baby the rear suspension while trying to keep momentum and miss rocks/bumps. Basically there was one shot to easily get out, or we would be there for awhile winching and some rain was threatening. So, I drove her up the hill. The Rover did pretty good, but dang that 2x4 suspension was stiff. We got out before the rain, even got a few drops right as we hit pavement. Perfect timing.

I ran over a few rocks with the 62.(URE) Did as well as I expected. Also does really well on the highway at 75mph.

Put over 1000miles on the ODO this past weekend. Drove to Charlottesville to visit family and took a side trip over to Shenandoah to ride up Skyline Drive and then back down the valley. Missed all the storms by just a few hours, but saw some amazing clouds rolling up the mountains from the east.

Couple pics...

Cool Rick. I am contemplating a ride this weekend (GX is missing two wheel studs on rear DS so no offroading) up to the CFW site with SEO or helping Eric with his build. You guys staying in town?

I like that sticker on the back window !!!

I dropped the GX at ACC for the rear bumper design phase and to pull all the flares, bed line the pattern, and to get wheels powder coated flat black....can't wait!

Attended the low country chapter of Upstate Cruisers Boil at Georgetown, and worked on my toasty toes problem. :)

I am in mid build limbo waiting on the steel to get cut post CAD entry. Ahhhhhh!

Double sided foil reflective with what appears to be kevlar thread and about 1/2 inch of insulation materal between. (Toughf stuff it takes a metal snip to cut just instantally dulls blades and regular sissors. Call Heat Shield from Second Skin, and that's not the final layer I've still got the sound dampner called Luxuary liner to install on top of the heat stuff. Should have my toes cool and hopefully get rid of the low gear whine too. In addition I coated three coats of Spectrum (a noise absorbing paint) on the floor, and roof pannels prior to instalation of the insulation:)
