Thanks! Really any drive along the Great Salt Lake is a blast to drive. The color of the water is always crazy. Driving that close to the train was trippy though haha. My wife was freaking out driving.

Pull the transmission/ transfer case in preparation to install a new clutch, rear main seal and new front u-joints (rears are already done) and the H55f.
All I can say is
1. GLAD I have a dry garage to do this in.
2. Make sure the transmission jack or a jackstand is under the transfercase before you pull the cross member. (stupid me)
3. I am not looking forward to getting the H55 under and trying to mount. IT was a PITA pulling that H42 out. But that will be next weekend as I have to get the flywheel reground.
This is going in all resealed/ rebuilt (Tcase) and ready to go. (that blue stuff is Hylomar)

If you cut a piece of plywood and mount it to your jack, you can drill holes in it to mount your transmission mount to it. Then put the transmission on the mount and you have a nice wide (plywood) surface for the transmission to sit and it will not roll off when the mounts are bolted to the transmission. My dad and I found that tip from someone here on mud. We pulled it in less than an hour and stabbed it the first try when putting it back in. Never once were we worried about dropping it off the jack. You just have to support the front end of the transmission and the rear of the tcase with jack stands while you remove the jack and install the cross member.

Post #8891. I see what you did and this makes sense. I did not block up the engine, but after seeing this I decided it would be a good idea and went and just did it.
I have the screw type of jack for the trans/ transmission and I can fab up a wood platform. I will do that this week as the flywheel goes in Monday for resurfacing.
We had just replaced the motor mounts the day before we dropped the transmission. It just seemed like a good idea not to have all that weight tilting backwards with nothing to support it. It may not have been necessary, but it didn’t hurt anything and it kept the engine at the same angle for when we stabbed the trans back in place. If you’re having trouble aligning things, it could be that your engine is tilted back enough to cause you headaches. We used the harbor freight transmission jack. Lubed it up really well and used the micro tilt adjustments. It worked beautifully. So much so that I kept the jack rather than return or sell it.
I got my new 4Runner brake booster installed along with the T100 master cylinder. Rotors, drums, calipers, pads, lines... hardware... all that’s happening tomorrow. I know I’m trying to eat an elephant whole...
Yep when I looked at it I could see what you are talking about. I have mine supported now and I feel much better about it. My motor mounts are about 5000 Miles old so I also would prefer not to destroy them as the engine would have been unsupported for a week.

A great day to get the 60 ready to move again with @boots4. Chilly January day but beautiful. Got the brake system bled and fluids in the differentials. Filled and bled the power steering system. Moved the axle back an inch. The 4BT started right up. After Mike left I decided to give Snowball his first bath in over a year.
Used our pressure washer with heat to blast off the undercarriage then a nice soapy scrub. Went home and had time to catch the last moments of an Alpenglow sunset of Hood with the Sandy River below.
Looks real good J!! Super excited for you man. Love the sound of that engine too. Great build and great job. Now lets get that thing out into some fire roads.
