What mounts are you using for your treds?

The tred mounts. I used the roll-in nuts on the 10/30. I did have to expand the hole on the tred mounts a bit to fit the 6mm bolt.

Finished my roof last night-

Hah! This is what a clean spare looks like. ;)

Yep, raise it to and it’ll sit snuggly. You can see it in the pic below.

I’m finally getting to the rear end rust on my GX. Absolute nightmare. About half of the smaller bolts holding the rear bumper on were seized and snapped right of, despite days of soaking in penetrating fluid. This is why you don’t buy a car from upstate NY!

What's all that reddish brown crud everywhere? ;P:flipoff2:

Yeah not much room under the rails. Does not block sunroof. And it's flat on top. The srock side rails are flat but the roof curves a bit. I mounted my Treds this weekend with no issues.

this is exactly what I was going to ask you, because when looking at the slot, it looks like it has a curve. @Dharma Dude said it first ;P
I've been thinking of your mod but rotating the L bracket to mount a wider crossbar, and I like the 10/30 rails you have b/c more platform/surface per rail, but as Dharma Dude said, if there IS a curve then >2 bars cancels the flat top...

Interesting you report they all sit flat with respect to each other. I'd like to see something rigid lay across them. Could you snap a pic of like a 4' level across the bars?

Why not use oem boots?

You guys are right it's not leveled. Here's a pic of me holding a folding square flat against the front crossbar.

probably insignificant for most things. I've been overcomplicating a simple mod before I pull the trigger and this level crossbars thought had occurred to me.
Thanks for verifying. I suspect if I did the over rail version, spacers could level it out. larger for front and back and the middle pair, or single if I go 3 bar, as is...

You can get them from toyota. I got my boots there, it includes the grease as well.

Ordered 4 Michelin LTX AT2 tires. They’re on sale at costco right now. I paid $819 installed. I’ll get the spare later. I wasnt planning on new tires but got TWO flats at once that were irreparable. Just went with stock 265/65/17 as I’m not ready to do the full build yet. I’ll post in the tire recommendations thread after I’ve tried em out for a while....

Cool, thanks. I dont have a yota dealer within 100 miles and the closest Lexus dealer is 4 hours away so it's time to find my favorite online dealer. For Subaru, Heuberger in CO was best for parts and prices.
Are they spec'd for Lexus, or are the FJ or 4R boots? Do you have a PN?

LED reverse lights yeehaw.

About to attack a PS manifold leak. Yuck. I believe after that I’m down to an oil change and rear wiper motor repair, that should be all!

Given the tightness you've got, thus my theory of a mount above the side rails. I use this box regularly so I'd need the clamp-around ability... that's my drive for an over-rail arrangement. AND I do like how low profile yours is, nested within the side rails. Have you addressed the leading edge of your front bar?

Not yet. I bought some acrylic to make a wind fairing just haven't had a chance to do it yet. Hopefully before my next trip in 2 weeks.

It fought but I won...

2 of the bolt heads holding on the front skid plate on the GX were stripped, kind of concerning, makes me wonder when the last oil change was. (Oil looks fine).

That said, they are out now, I welded 3/4” nuts to them and soaked them in PB while they were hot.

Also got the bolts out of the passenger side manifold heat shield. It’s loose in there, but how the :censor: does the heat shield get out of its tiny space??? I’ve removed the dipstick tube but there still doesn’t seem to be an exit path!
